If you sprinkle the pot liberally with normal salt, it will dry the burnt rice and in a couple of days it will just peel off. Have tried this with rice and porridge and it really works.

This is a trick that I actually learned in Boy Scouts. First put a little bit of soap in the bottom of the pan and fill it with water. Put it on the stove and let it boil for about ten minutes. This will loosen all the caked on rice. Then wait for it to cool (and soak some more) until it is tolerable to scrub. Good Luck.

What I do is that I boil water in the pot and let it soak overnight and clean the rice with soapy water and scrub it with a scouring pad with ajak. It works like a charm. Never can lose.

Pour in a cupful of soda crystals and a cupful of boiling water, so that the rice is covered by about quarter of an inch. This will make scraping easier. NB don't do this if it's an aluminium saucepan - it will destroy the pan as well. You'll just have to scrub. Or throw the pan away.

It's not that hard really. You've got to soak it in hot, soapy, water for a little bit to loosen it up. After soaking for a little bit, scrub it and it should come off. There may be some stubborn spots. If there is, repeat soaking, but not as long as the first time. After that it should wipe clean.

I would trash it. If that is not an option, soak it in warm water with soap for at least two hours, and try to get it off. If the pot has a non-stick surface using a cloth or sponge. If not non-stick, use a brillo pad, steel wool, something like that.

Wash the pot as best you can, rinse it out and cover the burned area with a can of tomato's, ketchup, tomato juice.....anything tomatoy. Let it stand over night; maybe longer depends on how bad it is. Works like a charm.

Well, I'd put some water in it, and then let it come to a boil. That should loosen up the stuck-on/burnt rice so you can wipe it out and wash the pan. If it was me, though, and that didn't work, I'd just throw the pan away!
