just a show-off that they belong to the 'no need to work' class. also great for picking between the teeth, ears and nose :-)

i think a lot of men in Jiangmen work in fabric factories and whatnot, because with long nails, it's somewhat easier to so things together (if you're sewing by hand.)
another theory is for nose picking. it might help. =]

Well apparently if u do not know yet, the chinese have gross habits like nose picking, picking dirt from their ears, and the award winning national habit of spitting ~LOL~

picking tool. in my city(TaiYuan) a lot of the women have the long fingernail too.... it's gross though if you ask me :(
