if they never thought about it, they never believed. They just walked in the grey area and fence-straddled their whole life.

Definitely yes.
You need to know Him, to love Him and to worship Him.
If you don't know Him, you may worship an imaginary God, without reality, without essence, without confirmation, then the result might be negative.
We cannot directly get to know God with our limited mind, but we learn about Him through His Divine Messengers. Now His Messenger for humanity, at its coming of age, is Baha'u'llah.
Baha'u'llah shows to us how God educates mankind from eternity to eternity.
Spirtual matters are difficult to understand, but once we turn to the Manifestation of God, He will guide us, inspire us, give us strength to overcome obstacles and to reach our noble goal.
Please rethink and speed up on the spiritual Path.

Yes, I don't question the existance of other planets beyond out Galaxy.. however, I know that other planets and suns exist, by logical and definition.
Belief can come from questioning, but also from direct conclusions.

No if you question the existence of god you realize he isn't real. They know this that's why they all force all the theists to be illogical and to not believe in science as they know it is proving them wrong. Say No To jesus.

I don't think it is necessary to believe in the existence of God in order to believe n him. But i do believe it is important to believe in something whatever it may be, the sun-moon-white elephant-a mountain. But most of all one has to believe in-ones-self to even be able to believe in someone or something else.

There is no need for such people to believe in God. nor can they permanantly believe even if there doubts are removed for some time. One who's faith in God is based on doubt, there is no use to develop the faith.

to answer the first question... how can you truely believe something if you haven't questioned it first.
in the second... if you haven't thought about it then you haven't acknowledged his existance the therefore one would have to question your belief.... if you are challenged and defend your belief without thought then you you are quite simply brainwashed.
in order to true believe, you must question that belief from all points of view... both positive and negative.
