liquid nitrogen is used for making icecream by stirring for example yoghurt under it. http://www.physik.uni-augsburg.de/~ubws/nitrogen.html

You can get it from a welding supply outfit. They have cryogenic gases. It can be stored at atomospheric pressure but it will boil off till it reaches below -300 F.

Although unless you really need it I wouldn't be playing with it. If you spill it on yourself its going to be a big problem. Cryogenic gases can be dangerous.

Another hazzard with nitrogen is that unlike CO2 there is no warning if you've displaced all the oxygen in a room. You could pass out and sufficate before you realized there was a problem.

I'd leave it alone.

Yes, there is no problem with civilians buying liquid nitrogen. The problem is finding a source because it is not normally sold retail. You might be able to find a company that uses it in their laboratories. They may be willing to part with some of it, particularly if it is for educational purposes.

No it is only available for laboratories and stuff. It comes in cylinders
