Cain married his sister, Luleth. Abel was to marry the 2nd daughter, but Cain killed him, so the 2nd daughter married Seth. When there are only 7 souls on Earth, you must be creative.

In some countries, 1st cousins can marry today.

You're right, I believe. It says in Genesis 5:4 that "after Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters."

The text does seem to indicate that Cain was the first born male after the Fall of chapter 3 because of Eve's expression in Genesis 4:1- "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man." There is hope in this statement because of the promise given in Genesis 3:15 about the "deliverer" or what is translated as "emnity." The emnity/deliverer is masculine gender and will bring the division and protection from the serpent for generations to follow. I believe that Eve thought that Cain was the promised one. She was disappointed to say the least. But as Cain was growing up other brothers and sisters were born, inlcuding Abel. It is possible that there were children born to them before the fall of chapter 3 as well. There is a lot there that is not stated in the text.

Blessings and peace

After Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden they started having children. Through out the scriptures they only talk about the principle people of the time and not everyone. They had numerous daughters and sons, not just Abel, Cain, and let us not forget about Seth. In Genesis 5: 4 it even states – And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters. – Adam was 130 years of age when Seth was born, therefore he would have had numerous other sons and daughters by then if he had more after Seth. As these first children grew to adulthood they married each other as their imperfections were not as great as they are today and would not bring infirmities as they do today. If you have many hundreds of brothers and sisters there is no way you could even know all of them especially as you marry and move away from home. If you read the scriptures and pray for an understanding your mind will be enlightened and your understanding will start to grow bringing you more knowledge. First the seed to believing is planted and when it is nourished the believing and understanding grows. It has to be nourished to grow just like any other seed.

Other people wonder the same thing . So stories explaining the issue were slowly compiled in the texts called the Pseudepigrapha . Within the volume there are two books called Adam and Eve I and II. It is not know when these texts were composed but some speculate possible about 100 or so years before Christ. Parts of them are found in the Jewish Talmud, and the Islamic Koran, showing what role it played in the original literature of human wisdom. The Egyptian author wrote in Arabic, but later translations were found written in Ethiopic. These texts can be found and read at :

At time what people fail to understand was that the Hebrew Epic was made for the Hebrews about the Hebrews. It is my opinion and many others that the creation stories were formed to unite the early Hebrew tribes. So, in turn, the creation of "The Man" was the first Hebrew being formed out of the earth by the hands and craftsmanship of Yahweh himself. This created a powerful sence of nationalism when telling it to children. For the epic ran from their creation of the man by the god's hand to a nation of people.

So in the account Adam, according to the Pseudepigrapha, Eve had two twin girls and Cain was jealous that Able got the more beautiful one and so he killed his brother. The Pseudepigrapha is a very interesting read.

No, no, no!! You people don't get it! It's so obvious! Adam and Eve were the first people, yes, but that doesn't mean they were the only ones!! After God made those two, he also made other people!
Other than incest being a sin, it's also condemned by the genealogy! Two people of the same blood CANNOT bear healthy children(trust me! I know this cause Cain was healthy enough to kill his bro!). When same blood mixes, all the probs(health one's of course!) of both parents will combine and obviously become much worse! Therefore the kid is born very ill! Ever heard of King Henry VIII's son who was always sick(don't remember his name at the moment!) Well, it's cause Henry had married his cousin!
And yes it works with 1st degree cousins as well!

My problem exactly. Bet those early Christians were glad peple didn't ask questions back then. This story originates from a time when fables could teach the uneducated masses. Such stories were also told for useful purposes, for example, simple tales encouraging morality and good. But tradition has meant these stories still stick around even when people are more sophisticated and can't be easily manipulated. Treat it as an example of human evolution.

Supposedly although Adam was the first man God made others after him in different villages.

I think the people that got together and wrote the bible saw the flaw in their plan but then just told whoever questioned it that God is the Divine one and that is what he said happened so don't question it.

It's all bull anyway!

Adam lived till he was over 900 years old and had many sons and daughters. The gene pool was not corrupted at that time. Incest was not a sin till much later. blah blah blah

no, the question is if adam and eve were the only 2 people, where did cain and able's (their sons) wives come from. The answer is the name adam (or originally Adom) means mankind in hebrew. PS don't EVER take the bible literally. PLEASE
