On an areoplane, the white, red and blue lights will blink when it travels. What are their functions and their differences in use?

It is a navigational light system.See and be seen.
On the left wing tip the light is a steady red.
On the right wing tip the light is a steady green.
On the tail at the top is a steady white light.
These are minimum requirements for aircraft operating at night.
They also have strobe lights they can turn on which are deemed anti-collision lights. You will see these mostly on the ground but are also on in the air.
The coloured lights are on the wingtips to be able to determine which direction the aircraft is going.
In the air there is little to give a reference to a moving aircraft.
If you are heading towards the aircraft his red light would be on the right.
If the aircraft is heading away you may see the red on the left side. I say may because on small aircraft the angle of the light is to be seen form the front and the side, not necessarily from behind.
The lights are mainly to be visible to other aircraft.
Hope I answered your question.

Never heard of a blue light on an A/C, Taxiway lights are blue but nothing on a conventional A/C that I know of.
Maybe "apachesoldier1 "knows something I don't about the blue light. Maybe a new Military application?
