why do so many people presume Pattaya Thailand is just about sex?

I live in Pattaya and recent the sugestion that Pattaya is only for sex usually from people who have never been

thats all i have heard about it. i havent been there. only to bangkok. so do tell. what do they really have there to see.. i would love to visit..

Well, I live in Thailand and have been to Pattaya - there are good restaurants, I am sure the golf is good, the malls are nice - but to answer your question, I would say that there is a greater concentration of bars and girls than any area its size in Thailand and maybe the world... The beach is one of the worst in Thailand, the waters are or were sewage filled... it is an area set-up for tourists to go and most of the excitement there is sex - there must be 10,000 bars there and 100,000 girls - it is near everywhere you go and look - it is a foreign city - set up for foreigners and unlike anyplace in the rest of Thailand other than Soi Cowboy, Patpong, Nana, Patong - a few pinpricks on the map where there are areas geared for falang and all the thai people, or most, speak English... I think, to answer your ? - many many many people go there just for sex and that is why people think of it that way.. sorry, for the bluntness.. Don't let my answer stress you out - go get a massage!!
