No. Hard rock is enjoyable, but is intellectually lifeless. Students should listen to Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, and the like. This music is intellectually stimulating, philosophically provoking, and mathematical in its composition and execution - it will benefit the student immensely, especially if he reads a bit about the composers and gains a basic understanding of music theory, which can be done at his leisure. It will stimulate unused portions of a student's mind, helping him to advance far beyond his peers in life.

This depends on the individuals preference of what type of music they like to listen. Example, If you like listening to, say classical, jazz, pop and so on... then you'll definitely have a hard time particularly in studying. But based on my experience, its hard to study with music especially hard-core-rock music. Its too loud, even the volume isn't. I can't concentrate on that. Unless I read (for fun or just skimming) during my leisure time.

However, during your academic time (so with regular classes and schooling routine) Usually the words are dark and suicidal--this may affect your behavior--and the majority may not like the changes (this depends also with the norms of the area).

It depends. I use to read a chapter in silence. Then turn on what ever I liked, which was hard rock & do all the questions in the back of the book. It worked for me.

Don't think it matters - I've been listening to it for years, and am now in college finishing up my bachelor's in biochemistry. I think as long as you aren't listening to it while the teacher/prof. is speaking you'll be fine.

Any music that relaxes you is good for the brain. I would watch the volume though, it might harm your ears.
