......they do that in certaim cultures.
a man i know has this quirky habit of attending funerals and he would just start laughing his pants off to the chagrin of the grieving relatives. Kinda make me wanna laugh too.
and death,........it's all very comical.

Heck yes! When I die, I'm insisting the funeral be called a Homecoming Party! It's a time to remember all the great things that person did on earth, share tears that you are going to miss them and that you can't get advice from them anymore. But I am happy whenever I see one of my Christian brothers and sisters set free! Death has no hold on them.

A christian is happy when a fellow christian dies because they know where they are going. But if your wife or husband was going to go on a trip for many years and you knew they were alright and you would see them again would you rejoice and party?

That's actually how my family handles it...funerals are kinda weird since almost everyone is smiling. Almost too happy. But, every family funeral I've been to has been for someone that was suffering from a very long illness....so it was good to know they were no longer suffering (regardless of beliefs, it's always good to know a loved one isn't suffering anymore)

You've described - pretty nearly exactly - every Catholic funeral I've ever been to. A sense of loss mixed with a certain happiness that someone is safe with Jesus...

when someone passes that we know and love there is a mixture of feelings .. being sad that they are no longer physically with us , being happy that they are out of pain and living eternally in spirit
i never cry for a death , i do cry if i see someone else upset but i tend to make them happier by talking about the life of the person
at our dads service we played " see you later alligator " as we all walked out of the church dancing and singing
of course we will miss their presence but we are happy that we have known them and had them in our life .. and even happier still that one day we will see them again

it is the loss that overcomes the happiness. but most people also think that their loved one has gone to a better place - that doesn't mean they done feel the loss
