maybe cause i have a job and i cant constantly supervise my ederly parents who need it. so instead of leaving them alone like an asshole id rather have them in a retirement home. putting them in their doesnt mean i am ungratful. dont criticize when you dont know the situation retardo.

That is great that you do this for your parents. Americans seem to be extremely busy doing things to keep them extremely busy. The only time that they are put in nursing homes, usually is when the parent is at risk of harm in their home.
As stated, As busy as they are, they have much stress. They are away from home during the day, working. You cannot leave an elderly person alone. There is much stress caused by some elderly. They could end up being abused if kept in a home where there is already stress. Those who want to stay in their home town rather than moving where their children live, give no choice. There are many reasons.
Many live in apartments with assisted living. Only a few are put in nursing homes. My heart breaks to see those in nursing homes that do not separate the mentally ill from those who are quiet and non-violent. We love our older relatives and it is fearful to think about living in a nursing home. I am getting older. I sure hope my children do what is best for me and put me into a quiet nursing home.

Many elderly people prefer to live in a Senior Citizens Residence. They are surrounded by companions. and numerous activities and outings going on at all times. Medical attention is always on hand. Their children can take them for an outing or visit at any time, so they are not neglected by their families. However this is different from being put into a nursing home because the children can't be bothered with them. That is terrible

it is not only American people that do that you get it all over the world children of today are to busy with there own lives to worry about there parents no matter what that parent had to offer up for that child you will find that most of the children forget and when the parent gets old and needs to be nursed it is easy to put them in a home and let somebody else worry about them. My mom died of cancer and i sew how my sisters did not want to care for her when she got sick and i can thank the Lord that I took her in and cared for her to the end. Children out there love your parents and look after them till there eyes close for the last time.

Fist of all Don't judge us we r all different some of us don't have the space, time or energy to do that or some can't stomach
doing everything for them so we're Very Grateful that there
Are such places for are elderly parents or in my case
grandparent . In her old folks home they are able to monitor her
more closely then we can and we don't have to worry if they've eaten or are they get the right amount food intake cause they
CAN'T eat normal and bed ridden. So Don't Judge Us Americans.
Damn proud to be a AMERICAN

Not everyone is raised the same. In my culture we also look after our elderly, but it is not left up to just one member, but the whole family. Not many people have big families to help them, so a nursing home is better for them, but in our culture and most indigenous cultures, we come from big families so caring for our elders is done by everyone.

America has turned into a mean, rude, cruel, society.People have no respect for the elderly, even their own older parents!!I was 14 when my grandma died. She was in a bed in our house and told me she needed to go to the hospital, she knew it was time. You are correct about the fact that we should love and care for our family until the end.I totally agree!!!!!Good luck God bless:O)

The idea of family doesn't have the same value as it does in other countries. We America's are more selfish and care much more about ourselves. I agree it shouldn't be this way. But this is the way it is.
Sad, but true.

Your question has the answer in itself. You care for your parents cos you are greatful to them. others are not so. they have forgotten that they too will grow old one day and the same fate awaits them. what you sow so shall you reap. their parents took care of them they didnt their children will treat them worse.
