Wrong! Rape is a crime. The woman who gets raped can report the man who did that. And he could be punished by death penalty if he was married, and to be hit by lashes if he wasn't. See, people hate rapists, and they deserve this punishment. Adultery needs 4 witnesses to be proved. Why? Because it's extremely difficult to find 4 people who saw a man and a woman committing this sin (Which has a harsh punishment), so it actually helps to not reveal people's wrong-doing. If a man committed this sin, 4 adult, Muslim, sane, and never lied before-men must testify that they saw it, and what are the odds of finding such people? Low! So punishment is harsh, but proving it is next to impossible, because it's a serious crime. And did you know that accusing a Muslim, chaste woman with adultery or fornication is a serious crime? You should get also 4 witnesses (With the same descriptions I said before) to prove it, other than that, the accuser will be hit by lashes, because he seriously defamed a chaste woman. Get your info correct please!

It is obvious that you feel negative about Islam...it's a very peaceful religion. You should stop being influenced by the media and truly study ......and when you are finished study some more........Peace

But to answer your question don't you need witnesses anywhere in the world when and individual is accused of rape? That for example to the Duke Lacrosse Team incident and the Kobe Bryant case......what is different...oh yeah they were not Muslims!

I do not know the detailed workings of the Muslim shariah law, but I have noticed that you have been one of some few question posters who make blatant sweeping assumptions without proper analysis.

Anyway, for some crimes like adultery and rape, the punishment itself for death... requires a certain number of witnesses. But I think that if there were no witnesses but sufficient evidence, the criminals would still be punished.

I saw that one floating around .. I suspected it was a propaganda tale .. perhaps from some odd incident in Indonesia or somewhere .. and there is in such reports .. especially if they are rightwing Christian news sources .. like a Pat Roberts .. difficult to sift where the fiction and distortion begins ...

..but I dunno .. I wish people from nations involved felt more open to discuss how things are where they are from ...

Are any of you answering from an Islamic country please?

re:"Love is Great" ..where are you from .. your paragraph confuses me .. are you saying the "four witnesses" are necessary for an incidence of adultery .. but not for an incident of rape .. I want to learn ...
