I cannot believe the advice I see in the CAT answers. Firstly, only feed your cat once a day, preferably in the evening when you get home from work. Cats like a timetable. If you feed them twice a day you will end up with a FAT and unhealthy cat......
Secondly!.... Never give cats MILK. Almost all cats are lactos intollerant and cows milk gives them the "Craps".
Finally, Feed them both wet (canned) and dry food with a bowl of water in between. Dry food is good for their teeth and gums.
I have a 16 YO Birman and 16 YO Burmese and they look and behave like kittens. I must be doing something right.

OMG! That is the LONGEST answer I ever gave!.......LOL!
I just read blueeys answer to you and she should be arrested for animal abuse!

A cat needs food all the time they will eat all day, so make sure that there is always food and water available for them.
If you want to know how much food the cats need till their next meal then dish put food into their bowls, say a handful for each cat, if they eat it all and don't want more then that is the amount that you feed them with each meal, or as you say they always want more feed them the amount that they are normally fed and if they want more then give them some milk, that should sustain them until their next meal. Depending of coarse on what you are feeding them, if it is tin foods, you can mix pellets with that wet food and serve to them, but always offer them some milk after their meal it sort of fills the gap in their belly if they are still hungry.

I believe there is no fixed ("proper") amount of food one should give to an adult cat. What is proper for my adult cat might be improper - too little or too much - for your adult cat. Watch the cat's feeding and appetite, and experiment: increase the meal until the cat begins to leave left-overs, then gradually reduce it. In time, you will discover what exactly satisfies its appetite -the "proper" amount .

read the bag it should tell you about how much to feed. split that amount into 2-3 feedings. one easy way is to get some gladware containers and put the days food in that one for each cat and just dump some into their bowls at each feeding. I feed my cats 6am (or when I wake up) 6pm, and 10pm (or when I go to bed).

look on your cat food bag, it should have feeding amounts per weight/size of your cats......you may want to try dividng up the total amount & giving half in the am & half in the pm, then your kitties will feel they are eating more often & this may make them happier, my kitty eats once in the am & then at dinner time & she usually leaves a bit in the dish in between to snack on
