Who wrote the bible?
How do u know?
When was it written?
Where was it written?
What was the purpose of writing or complying different books to get the bible?
Ok with what u answered, why do people believe so strongly in a bible that was written when it was, by who it was, where it was, and why it was, and what was in it?
Do u think in your own opinion, not your parents, or what the church tells you, but what you think, if a new one was compiled, what should it contain?

Who wrote the Bible: God is the Author of the Bible, and guided 40 men's lives whose professions ranged from simple shepherd to detail-oriented doctor to wise kings, spanning a multitude of countries and three continents (Europe, Africa, and Asia), over a period of 2000 years to write a single continuous book of history, prophecy, wisdom, and self improvement (on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels) that revolves around the lives of the Hebrews and of Jesus Christ.

How do I know: Jesus is known by both religious and secular scholars to have been a real, living, person who lived in the Galilean area around 3AD-36AD. The Bible's New Testament has written down the words of Jesus. Jesus proclaimed that the Bible is God's Word, and proved Himself to truly being the Son of God by fulfilling everything He set out to do and taught about, from healing the sick, to performing miracles, to aiding the poor, to being crucified on the cross, and being raised on the third day. Over 300 propheies were spoken about Jesus being the Messiah, with over 100 of them being fulfillable *only* by Jesus Christ, in that time, in that location, under those circumstances.

When/Where was it written: The earliest book, Job, was first penned about 2000BC (the time of Abraham) by Job in the Dead Sea area. It also had parts written across Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Greece, Mesopotamia, Macedonia, and seemingly every place in between. The final book written, Revelation, was written on the island of Patmos by at latest 98AD.

An interesting fact to note, is if you get three people, of similiar profession, from the same locale, to speak about a single subject, they will each have their own opinion, and be unable to agree about just about anything (consider the multitude of beliefs of evolution, theories of the origins of the universe, theories on how the dinosaurs died, psychology, and cars). However, this massive scale work of literature reads as though written from a single author, with a single all-encompassing perspective, with each event unfolding smoothly onto the next.

Why the books were compiled: If they were not, you would not have a single, fluid, work. Each book is written by a single author, represented by their immediate point of view and surroundings, and is read in the same manner a chapter is in an ordinary book. If you miss a chapter, you miss out on quite a bit, and are left with questions like "why did this happen?", "who is so-and-so and why are they important?", "what are they talking about, no one made mention of such-and-such". Yet, since the Bible is a single work, each book within it is equally important as the next.

Why do I believe the Bible: 1.) It is accurate. Every location mentioned in the Bible that has been explored by archaeologists, has been validated as being dug up just the way the Bible described it. Jericho was unearthed in the 1970's, and lo and behold, the walls fell, not inward (the way an army would have destroyed it), but outward (as though from an earthquake). Sodom and Gomorrah was always considered a myth up until the 80's, when documents regarding trade were excavated, and they mentioned the two cities, and a couple locations have been explored, where a city once existed during the time period of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the remains of them are covered in foot-deep ash, charred wood, and devastated human remains. The Hittites were always considered a mere myth, a simple fabled people used to tell a story, until IIRC the '50's when records were unearthed regarding their conquests.

2.) It is prophetic. The prophecies of the Bible have been fulfilled, normally applying to two, if not three, time spans: within the lifetime of the prophet, in the future, and at the end of the age, and 100% of the prophecies were unfolded, in some way, in the lifetime of the prophet. We are living in an age where we can see prophecy being fulfilled as well. In Isaiah 43:5-6, it speaks about how God will bring His people from all directions back into Israel... In Ezekiel 36:8-10, God speaks how He will bring His people back to Israel.... and lo and behold, in 1948, Israel once again became a nation, having Jews from the four corners of the earth return to their homeland once again. http://www.aboutbibleprophecy.com/ has a good list of a number of Bible prophecies, and when and where they were fulfilled.

Many Christians also have their eyes on the current Mideast crisis. My husband and I heard on both Fox News and CNN quotes akin to "If Syria uses WMD's on Israel, Israel will blow Damascus off the map" (see Isaiah 17) and "Israel plans to deal a mortal wound to Hezbollah" (see Revelation 13). (I would *greatly* appriciate a reference to the original quotes, if anyone could find them).

3.) It is life changing. From the original 12 disciples who went from cowards and quarrellers to standing up for what they knew to be fact even in the face of ridicule, exile, and death, standing both united with Christ and with each other, to the martyrs of the first few centuries, to modern Christians who lay down their lives daily at the hands of the secular, the Christian-hating atheists, and at the hands of those of other religions, all the while saying "Thank you for this meager piece of bread and small cup of water" to their captors. It changes the lives of people who once hated Christ and Christians with every ounce of their being (like Saul, who became Paul, and myself) into devout Christians themselves. It changes the lowly into those who are self-respecting; the haughty into the humble; the meek into the wise; the self-proclaimed wise into the self-admitted foolish; the hateful into those who love mankind; the addicted to those who are freed from addiction; the self-serving into the selfless; the greedy into givers; and so on.

In my own opinion: I could not rewrite the Bible. God wrote the Bible, and it is *His* story, not mine. Everything I need to know about history, the present, the future, Christ's life, and my life, are written within. What more could I possibly want? People always say, "if only such-and-such (child-rearing, dating, marriage, life, etc.) came with a manual"... it did, it's called the Bible... but no one who asks that kind of question has ever read the Bible, or else they'd have their instruction manual they so desire.

1. Prophets
2. Believe in that.
3. Not all at once. It was written during the long time.
4. In the Asia
5. To put all God-related information in one book
6. Because belief is inside of one person. It has nothing with evidents, it is inside of heart of the person and not inside of the brain.
7. I've never thought about some other Bible. I already have one? Why would I need new one if this has all answers?

I'm going to only answer one question, because you just asked a mouthful! We could have a whole day's dicussion on what you asked in these questions...... they have classes in college just based on these questions.....

Why do people believe so strongly in a bible that was written a long time ago?

Because it holds true today. I do not follow my Jesus blindly. I am quick to test him in areas. I test the Bible. And it has NEVER failed me. Not once! I have tested God in the area of money. It says give sacrifically... give even when it hurts. So I tested that. I gave when it hurt and I got back so much more. The Bible has never failed me, never lied to me, never been un-practical in my life.

I can only answer one piece. The old testament was made from every one of the old religions because shall we say christians stole all the stories from other religions as well as a few statues that happened to be near their area and was done to attract more followers sort of like how the greeks adopted the customs of newly gained lands as a way to easily acquire trust with the area.

I am convinced the people who wrote it were not stupid. Listen to this:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and WE BEHELD HIS GLORY, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:14

That which was from the beginning, which WE have heard, which WE HAVE SEEN with our eyes, which WE HAVE LOOKED upon, and OUR HANDS have handled, of the Word of life;
1Jo 1:1
