I believe it's called a "call" or something like that.
David Copperfield (in the book by Dickens) mentions it.
It's an old superstition.
But there are a lot of truths in those old superstitions...

I believe that the Italian's view being born with a veil as the child will have "second sight" meaning being sensitive to the "other world"...I was born with 1/2 a veil on my face and I label myself as a "finder". If you've lost something, I can locate it in the most out of the way place. I don't know if this is related to being born with a veil or not. I'm sure that this is up for argument, but this is the gift I have.
I do know that people used to preserve this layer in family books,etc...mine was not...hope this gives some insight...

There is a superstition that states babies born with "veils" are special children. If you're IQ is 160, then it proves it to be so. Some old folk say that "veiled" babies have active 3rd eyes and the veil was there to keep demons from finding out while in the womb. But that's just superstition and old wives tales.

My Grandmother often spoke of having a veil over ones face at birth. From what i understood, these children were gifted in various ways. Some could see the future, some could communicate w/the dead, some had heightened senses. I rarely hear about it nowadays but I definitely believe there's something to it. I'll ask and if I find more, I'll let U know.

First of all to BILL...lighten up Buddy, putting their question in the wrong area is not the end of the world, happens all the time. Is it really that important that you feel the need to belittle someone?

My Great Aunt spoke of being born "veiled" She claimed to be able to "feel" things, having contact with spirits, and she spoke of seeing a bright light in the distance.
Truth or Imagination??? I don't have a real opinion, but she sure was interesting!
