It's a serious question. Just wondering why there has to be this condition?

So from what I've gathered:
1) Jesus died for our sins but we retain free will and it is possible to reject him regardless
2) Acceptance can be a) mental-simple conscious recognition of Jesus as the Son of God OR b) physical - manifestation through life-time of good deeds OR a strict combination of a) and b).
OR
3) God forgives all and there is no need to accept Jesus because He is all-loving

Thanx so far, we'll get there keep trying!

Well, maybe that is a gross simplification but the basic gist.
The differing answers appear to show that there is no general consensus on salvation but that generally one has to "give themselves to Jesus" or accept him as divine.
Thank you for the answers. As a non-believer with no formal knowledge or inclination to trudge through the Bible, I believe it important to understand those issues you discuss.

Because he won't violate your will. You may not want to accept Him, and He will respect that. You can never say that God made you choose Him.

In doing this you are admitting to accepting who he is and are at the same time admitting that you believe who he says he is and that he truly died for us and our sins. He did this to give us eternal life, however, the choice is totally ours. I believe and I hope that you do also. We can't have it both ways, by this I mean that we can't claim to believe and accept him and then live in sin and just figure it is okay to do this. I know religion can be very confusing and we don't have all of the answers. Keep asking when and what you don't know or understand that is alright. I don't think people would ask if they didn't really care. Just live the best life you can and be the best person you can be. Ask God to be with you and help you with this and to also help you to understand the things that you don't. It will come to you when the time is right. Just don't give up and don't stop believing or accepting him. I sincerely hope this helps you in some way. Please just don't give up. Jesus didn't just die for the people of his day, he died for all of us past, present and future. This has nothing to do with any "actor or singer" type of thing. There is not any comparison between him and them. Some people need to live in reality!

Well first to be forgiven for a sin, a person must repent and ask forgiveness from God. This part is where the accepting as Lord comes in.
Christians beleive that Jesus died in order for the above to take place

Yes you are right...Jesus did die for our sins. But do you know what that means?? He died so that we can be forgivin for our sins instead of just going to hell. You have to accept him as your personal LORD AND Savior so that you have the opportunity to repent. I mean almost everything you do in this world is practically a sin and has consequences in the afterlife. Jesus knew that it would be hard for us to live right by the LORD and even more complicated if we tried it on our own. He knew that he had to die to give us a chance at forgiveness...I recommend that you watch the Passion of the Christ..It is a good movie but it also help you understand certain things.

Doing well deeds and maintaining God's commandments are relatively essential as a substitute than simply accepting Christ as your private savior..Believing must be paired with movements. These 2 need to move hand in hand. For the bible says even the DEVIL believes and shivers earlier than God.The ten commandments have been there for the early persons of God. Of direction so much of its provisions have been nonetheless in drive at present however now not the Sabbath statement. That was once for the period of their dispensation. We at the moment are dwelling within the Christian generation. By the best way, on account that you're a Mormon why do you continue to utilize the Book of Mormons once we have already got the Bible? Is the Bible now not ample for us to think and satisfy for our salvation? You additionally think into baptism through proxy. Is this biblical?

That's the beauty of it. You don't have to. You don't have to do anything. He forgives you. Even for unbelief. Belief is not easy. If you do accept him as your personal Lord and Savior you will see a difference in your day to day life tho. I promise you that. Satan wants us to believe silly things like you have to "do" something like take a bath in public, or say a fancy prayer to go to heaven. In fact all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. So he died for you. Isn't that great? To know God loves you THAT much? Just curious why don't you want to love him back? That's kinda hurtful I would think. But just like the prodical son, when you come back to him, he'll be waiting for you with open arms.

We are saved because of God's grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

By accepting Him as you Savior you are admitting that you are a sinner and can't save your self from the consequences of sin and that is death- physically and spiritually. Accepting Him as your Lord means you are surrendering your life to Him and that without Him you are nothing.

People's heart today are harden they don't even accept they are sinners. Once you made a decision to accept Him in your life as your Lord and Savior you relationship that was once broken
because of sin was restored.

Because his dying doenst mean that you are saved. You can be forgiven for your sins but his dying doesnt imply being SAVED from the conditions that this world finds itself in. God's promise is to create an earthly paradise where we will live on in peace and happiness, in order to be there we need to accept Jesus and demonstrate that acceptance through the way we act.

Because you've got the whole concept wrong.

Man is an enemy of God because of sin.
Because God hates sin.

If you have to be reconciled to God, you have to accept that Jesus was the sacrifice for your sins.

That’s what is meant by accepting Christ. It means accepting that he was the sacrifice (approved of God) for MY sins. If you don’t accept that, his death would mean nothing to you.

But salvation doesnt end there. There's more to it.
READ this:

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved BY HIS LIFE.

It is just like you owe someone a million dollar. Jesus came along and said to you, "Believe me, I will pay all your debts." But instead of accepting the offer, you insist that there no such thing in life as a free meal. So Jesus said, "Come to me when you are ready to accept my help."

God love you but He does not force His will on you or anyone. So it is really YOUR CHOICE.

He made the DECISION to be sacrificed for your sin.
You make the DECISION to accept His sacrifice for your sin.
He will not force it upon you. The Holy Ghost is a gentleman,
par excellence.
I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!! Thank-you Jesus!!!!!

EDIT: Wise ol owl demonstrates just how deep the love of God is. Love gives, and gives, and gives, but the age of Grace will
soon end. A word to the wise.
