I actually think life in prison is a harsher sentence than death. I would prefer to die then spend the rest of my life in a small cage. To some though a death sentence is considered murder.

With life in prison, there's always a chance your conviction will be overturned, or some governor will release you, which is more common for females on death role than males.
As far as the death penalty being a detriment, people who commit these crimes don't think they are going to get caught in the first place, so how can the death penalty be a detriment?

The Death Penalty as a warning is erroneous, since violent criminals are missing the 'conscience' gene. I have read that it is more expensive to give the needle, than to house them. There wasn't any further explanation breaking down the costs.
Life imprisonment is all relative to the crime doer. It is a regimented way of life, inmates are clothed and fed, and some have privileges. Others get hurt, or killed, by other inmates. Life imprisonment may be a perfect habitat for those who cannot function effectively in society.

The difference is that when you put a scumbag to death for his hideous act he can never offend again! When they get life there is always a remote chance that they will get loose, whether by escaping, or being paroled, or even weekend passes, and be free to victimize another innocent person! Also, I don't believe this load of crap how it costs more to execute a prisoner than it does to house them for life! The fact is it's a lot cheaper to kill the creep than house and feed them! I hope I did not offend anyone by stating my opinion! If I did, that's too bad!

Life in prison is much more of a punishment that being put to death. Unfortunately, we have to bear the burden of cost in housing these inmates for life. Most lifers would just as soon be put to death than to hang out all day with nothing to do and yet people telling you how to do it.

what if the person being executed is innocent, if beyond all resonable doubt there is no innocence then pull the lever. death is too easy plus a death sentance should be carried out within a year of conviction not 20 years later. there only is one option to the death penalty and life imprisonment and that is a partial frontal lobotomy and release with sterilization. sure whats barbaric about that in jail till death or having your veins pumped with poison. the only life we have the right to take is our own.

See basically a person is send to prison because of the crimes committed by him. Now a person maybe sentenced to death because of taking life of another person, which any religion prohibits. I personally do not think that sentencing to death is a wrong if the guilty has committed the crime out of intention. Secondly a person is sentenced to a lifetime in jail is because of the reason, he has done the crime out of intention, not willingly. So in that case the person is made to sit in the jail purely out of the laws legally thats all.

i think death penalty is cheap and not harsh enough, now rotting in prison till your dying day that is good punishment, and i think life in prison should apply to all these sex offenders that get 2 years and keep hurting kids because the law slaps them on the wrist and lets them out again, and complains that sex offenders and pedifilers are a problem with society, when they had a chance to put a stop to the sick uncurable decay of society, and did nothing but allow them to go do it again...nice what are tax dollars at work are doing isn't it?

Although people put in prison for life is'nt to rot, although some of us belive some should. but being punnished with life in prison doesnt give them an escape from all they have done as being put to death would although Some one with a sick mind and no conscience could be spared his life from death row ,to a sentence for a life with himself and mind.

Depending on the degree of the crime I think wrong doers who are sentenced to life without parole do not deserve the easy way out death.
They should have the rest of their lives to suffer as they made their victims suffer
Also i am totally against the death penalty
