.Frozen Microwave Pizza, eggrolls, micro pot pies, micro tv dinners, cold cuts to make sandwiches. If he feels like being creative one night, give him a can of spam, the possibilities are endless with spam..lolz.

I hope your hospital stay isn't for anything TOO serious??!! Best of luck, whatever it is.
There are some lasagna noodles on the market that don't require boiling---that might be a good option. Just throw the noodles in a pan w/ sauce, cheese, & meat (if you want); instructions are right on the package. You could cook this ahead of time & freeze it, or just prepare it, & let them cook it.
Another idea (that's also really fun for the kids to help make, if they are old enough!): english muffin pizzas----toast english muffins, slap on some canned pizza sauce, then cheese, then broil a few minutes.Simple, & the kids can be creative w/ their toppings...
One more that comes to mind...may sound odd, but it tastes SO good! And is EASY!
Heat oven to 350.
Cook some spaghetti noodles. Drain. Set aside.
Have American cheese slices ready (or whatever cheese your family likes)
Boil a pound (or more, depending on the size of your family...) of hamburger. By this I mean, crumble the meat into a pan, then add water to cover. (Add salt &/or pepper, or any other spices you like @ this point). When the meat is cooked (brown), drain it, but don't throw away the juice! In a pan, layer like this: hamb., spaghetti, cheese slices; repeat until it's all in the pan. Pour some of the juice from the cooked hamburger over the entire dish. Cover w/ foil. Bake until the cheese melts.

I wish you & your family the best!

Before I was going to have my second child, I wanted to make sure my non-cooking husband and son would be eating while I was not well. I cooked a bunch of meals, put them in plastic portion containers and froze them. That way it was as easy as a tv dinner. Just take it out of the microwave, heat it up, and have a nutritious meal that you know will taste good!

If you don't have time to do that, try those meal-in-a-boxes....Hamburger Helper makes them now. They are only 3 or 4 dollars and the instructions are very simple. Pretty much mix and cook. Ready in a matter of minutes and little clean up.

Here's a really easy one and if he can't do it then there's no hope. He can get X amount of chicken breast, put them in an oven pan about 3" or so deep wide enough to fit about 3-4 breast in. Get and flavor salad dressing...not the creamy kinds either...the vinagrettes like Italian ect. Squeeze about 1/4 of bottle in the pan, 1/3 cup of veg oil and about 1 cup of water. Cover with tin foil (with vents) pop in over for 30min on 350 and you're good to go.

He can cook up some spagetti to go with it and put the chicken breast on top of the spagetti. He can make sauce from the jar right?! LOL

Pre cooked meals at the local supermarket. Many have specials for less than $10.00 that are a full meal (chicken, bread, coleslaw or potatoe salad). Microwave a couple of cans of chili, cheddar cheese, and place in center of a hollowed out piece of bread like french bread or sour dough.

Anything that says "anything that says now stir the potatos and reheat for 2-3 more mins then allow it to sit for 2 mins"....hahaha

Actually I do have something that I learned and mastered while stationed in Korea.

Frito Pie

Buy a bag of frito chips and place some in a bowl. Pour a can of chili over the chips and then top it off with some cheese on top and heat it up....

Its really good but prob not really healthy

OK, take it from a man who hates to cook.
These are things that are easy to heat up from frozen or refrigerator:
Lasagna (make a big pan, cut into squares & freeze.)
Beef stew
Spaghetti & meatballs (yum)
Hungry man TV dinners :-)

Anybody who can follow instructions can make Hamburger Helper, some of the flavors are quite delicious, like Cheesy Enchilada and also Salisbury -- mmm.. Actually to continue the hamburger theme, tacos are really easy to make -- and fun too.

Finally, may I suggest two words: TAKE OUT :-)

Good luck, and hope all goes well with your hospital stay.

why dont you make some meals and freeze them before you go?

shephards pie / cottage pie / spag bol / lasagne

Most things will freeze after cooking - just make sure he knows he can only re-heat once.

Tell him to defrost first and then put in oven - tell him time for / gas mark etc.. and what it should feel like - look like (leave notes)

if you made 2 /3 meals like this - then what is the harm in him geting takeaway / kids having beans on toast etc.. for the rest of the week - wont do them anyharm.

R ur kids not old enough to help cook?
