The two were allowed to do anything they wanted to as long as they dont eat the fruits on a fruit tree in the middle on a garden. But in the end they did. That was how the sin was created and God will never turn the world back to a sin-free world.

If the world is truly as sinful now,as in the day's before Noah, wouldn't it stand to reason that humanity, except for the "chosen", would have been wiped out.

How any one can make reply for God? If I am allowed to give some opinions about the world and its relation to God, here is my thinking:
God loves all men who are His children. He knows how His children use their free-will to show their superiority over all animals and how they will advance to higher and higher levels of spiritual civilization.
If we look at the world with our physical eyes, we see only the sins of other people; when we turn back and use the spiritual eyes to look into our souls we will realize that all sins in the world come from there. Buddha has clearly stated that 'peace of mind is peace of the world'.
So, right at this moment, if each one among all individuals look into his mind using thoughts of peace to eliminate thoughts of war, then immediately peace will dominate the world. The difficult thing is that most men refuse to learn how to look into their mind, then how to use thoughts of peace to remove thoughts of war; moreover, if they do so while others don't, then others may destroy them! That is not God's punishment, it is lack of vigilance!
However, since God is almighty, He has brought the world of man to national unity, through myriads of apocalyptic events, then nothing else can prevent Him to raise it to the higher stage of world unity.
So, please create peace in your mind and be happy at that moment of peace. Other people may kill your body but no one can kill a mind in peace.
Please think the unthinkable and rethink the thinkable.
