I've dyed my hair (originally light brown) a bright red about 3 times in the past two months, and it fades to an annoying dark brown every two weeks. And suggestions on how to stop this??

I do this too. Mine doesn't fade nearly as fast though. I do it about every two months and it stays good. I overdo it though, and for the first week, it's really bright. If you use a good haircolor (not one from the store), and get it done professionally, it will come out much better.

Don't wash your hair for at least a week after coloring. You may also want to consider not coloring your hair so often. It may be damaged to the point where it can't hold color anymore. You can get this fixed, but you need professional help. This is your hair - don't skimp!

BTW - I have tried all the products that are supposed to keep red hair red. None of them work. It's a scam perpetrated against cheap people who won't fork over for the good color job.

Red is the hardest color to keep in your hair. I think possibly the red color molecules do not get as big as others or something. Most people don't realize that's how color stays in your hair. The molecules are very small and as they oxidize on your hair they get in through your cuticle and become to big to come back out. That's why keeping your hair healthy helps. If your cuticle is too flared up the color will fall out. Are you doing the color yourself? If you are having trouble you should go to a professional. Someone who has been doing hair for awhile will have dealt with this before and will know what to do.

Pantene for red also helps. Dyeing 3 times in 2 months is going to fry your hair. Reds and blacks fade quickly, either way

This is normal. Use either Pantene or John Frieda's shampoo for red hair. Both brands also offer a color sealant especially for hair that is dyed red that'll make your hair color last a lot longer. I use both and it keeps my hair a vibrant red.

This sounds crazy but it works. add Cherry Kool-Aid to your shampoo. But you have to bend over the tub to wash your hair,if you do it in the shower your back will go red too! and use a shower cap in the shower. I use dove shampoo & conditioner too

use a specialty shampoo for dyed hair - i use john freda for brown hair (that's what color i dyed mine) and my color stays incredibly well. i would also recommend checking to make sure you are grabbing a permanent color, not a semi-permanent. follow directs exactly and it should stay.
