To all Westerners sushi is not only about rice, seaweed & fish. There are many diffrent kinds of sushi & yes they comes along with vinegared rice.
1)Nigiri sushi:Comes with sushi rice(20-35grams) & topping(anything that is eatable).
2)Gunkan(battleship in Japanese)sushi:Sushi rice(20-35grams)seaweed(3cm height by 16-18cm in lenght)wrap round the rice before putting your topping in it.Example Ikura(salmon roe),Uni(sea urchin) & others
3)Maki(roll):Two ways of doing it.First way the seaweed(nori) will be on the outside wrapping the sushi rice & the ingredents in it.The second way is the sushi rice is on the outside while the seaweed will be on the inside with the ingredents.
4)Teimaki(tei means hand):It's rolled in a cone-shaped & taken by using hands.
Sushi can be a healty food & it too can be as unhealty too.Reason is because it has to depans on the ingredents which is selected & the others side food to blend along.Select your ingredents well & you will be enjoying a healty meal.

If purchased from a reputable restaurant, then yes. Sushi is low in cholesterol and fat making it very healthy to eat. However, it's biggest weakness is that it must be consumed fresh because most of it is uncooked. So, a bad sushi can bring about severe digestive problems.
