Almost Atheist= Denies the existence of all gods except one.
Ignorant Atheist= Never considered the existence of any god/s but denies their existence.
Weak Atheist= Denies the existence of any god due to lack of evidence.
Strong Atheist= Denies the existence of any god due to confirmed empirical evidence.
I am a Strong Atheist. But, I prefer to call myself a Freethinker or Secular Humanist.

Curt C,
I am also a US Marine. I have fought in more conflicts than you have read about.

There is no confirmed empirical evidence to prove the negative of 'There is no God'. Same with Santa and the Easter Bunny.
So I guess I'm a 'weak atheist' but prefer the term agnostic by training (science) and atheist in practice. :) I don't assume the existence of God or Santa until strong evidence for it has been shown. As a scientist I try to have strong standards for evidence in most things. Other times I have to use Occam's razor.

I am ignostic. Unlike agnosticism, where God can never be "known", I believe that discussions about God, afterlife, etc. are inherently meaningless because they can never be proven. Therefore, I remain "ignorant" by choice. I guess this would an "aggressive" Weak Atheist or Ignorant Atheist, but the labels are unfortunate.
I do not find Strong Atheism, broadly, very persuasive. The fact that there may be NO God cannot be established. Selectively to established gods, such as a Christian God, I am a strong atheist because I find the evidence conclusive that a Christian God cannot exist.
Good luck in the Marines and be safe. I hear they have a lot of serious and substantial prayer (mostly Christian) in the service. I would find that difficult but what do I know? My life isn't constantly and directly threatened.

I'm "formally" an agnostic atheist (or robust agnostic, or vulnerable atheist, relying on who is doing the defining) - I do not consider we will be able to probably realize if a god exists, however I don't feel it's most likely that one does. I do not relatively love to label myself despite the fact that, as I consider it is ludicrous that there is a label for NOT being whatever. I'm additionally now not a fireman or a healthcare professional, and I'm a-Santa Clausist and a-unicornist. I very a lot establish with Secular Humanism. There also are components of rationalism that I believe (such a lot, I think). I best relatively realize approximately postmodernism as a creative and literary motion--however making use of the ones standards to philosophy with out studying a lot on it I consider I can adequately say I'm now not postmodernist...do we want a label for that too?

First off thanks for serving in the military and PROVING that there are Atheists in foxholes despite the lies of Katie Curic(spelling) and the rest.
I'd call myself a weak atheist but ant-theist towards organized religion.
I like to have the ablitiy to think for myself and feel that doing good will benefit mankind and feel that also fits with the term freethinker and humanist

I'm a secular atheist, I don't share the theistic belief in god or gods, I don't believe in the supernatural...it is outside of nature and therefore does not concern me as I cannot have any knowledge of it and neither can anyone else.

I'm a theoretical Atheist. Meaning, I can entertain the theory that there is no God, and the rational, analytical side of my brain finds that theory logical, but not provable. The devotional side of me however is thoroughly Theist. I believe in one God who manifests in many ways and who is all-pervading. Kind of hard to explain.
