Be honest with me. I could use a slap in the face to get me going!

I'm about 155 lbs. right now. I don't really look all that big. I hide it well, but I want to weigh less and be healthier, especially at this time in my life!

If I lost a pound a week, I'd weigh like 105 pounds. Not healthy for my body type. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm starting to get motivated. Looking at those dresses is helping me get motivated too! haha

25lbs in a yr is WAY doable...but here's the thing you don't want to deny yourself too much because your just gonna binge eat then and most likely gain more weight then loose. The best solution is just eat smaller portions so you're not denying yourself anything and so your mind doesn't miss it and body doesn't miss it either.

Of course exercising is a HUGE help and if you want to get into a routine which you will have to establish one if you want to loose 25 lbs in yr....you will have start out going to the gym at least 3 times a week for the next 3 mos. ATLEAST! You MUST spend a hour out the gym ATLEAST and you MUST do cardo for ATLEAST 30min meaning 20mins you keep your heart rate up and 10 mins for a cool down. the other 30 should be spent doing light weights....5-10lb DO NOT go above that because then you will be putting on muscle weight and you will look heavier than you are. Remember you want to loose the excess weight before you muscle tone. Light weight are O.K just to work out major muscle groups: Major muscle groups should only be about 5-10 mins with 5-10lb weights....then move to the mats do tummy exercise (ALL muscles in tummy) some squats and then do about 5-10 min stretch cool down.

This will establish a good exercise program ensuring you loose the 25lb without having to deny yourself anything or starve yourself. Just remember you want to cut your portions in half though. You can eat (which is healthy) up to 6 times a day but they must be small portions. Like a bowl of cerel in the morning (special K is always good) then an apple/banana around 10ish for lunch a soup and salad or a salad and half a "small" sandwhich, 2-3ish yogart, dinner (light and healthy all major food groups), and then a really small snack like a crackers or something about 7-8ish. This helps keep your matabolisim up...also lay off all sodas for about 2 months. Try to drink only water, milk (small glass in morning) juice (small glass at lunch) and more water. Soda, coffee, and even juice has alot of sugars in them that make you gain weight faster than food because your body doesn't have to break it down it's absorbed instantly.

Good Luck!

That's only around half a pound a week. You need to eat a healthy diet, low in saturated fat and sugar. Eat small amounts and often, things like raw carrot sticks, grilled fish, salads without fattening dressings, low fat diet yogurts, fruit, never have more than 2oz of meat or cheese ( 3 times daily ) or 4oz fish. Do not fry food, Use skimmed milk in tea or coffee and sweeteners instead of sugar. When you are eating, put your knife and fork down between each mouthful, concentrate on the issue in hand - don't watch tv or read while you are munching ! Always leave something on your plate. You will find that you naturally eat less and will feel fuller quicker.
You must take exercise, brisk walking is great as is swimming and cycling.
Make sure that you have breakfast, otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and it will be much harder to lose the weight.
Good luck and congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.

First of all, congratulations on your marriage!!

Now onto the main topic.
First of all, it aint no joke that you are what you eat. It takes an average of 3 to 4 weeks for the tongue receptors to forget a favorite taste/flavor. Keep that in mind when you read the following.

Humans have an innate desire for fatty food. First you need to reduce the daily fat intake. This is because fat is higher in calorie than most other types of food. The million dollar question is: how do you reduce fat intake if your tongue is so addicted to it. The answer is, use more herbs and spices to fill in for the reduced fat. It will take about 4 weeks for this to kick in, and during this time, you'll have to be patient and not gorge on fatty stuff. But soon, your body will start to take a liking towards flavor full food that is low in fat.

This is your basic diet in a nut shell. Atkins will work but it's not natural. Humans need a certain amount of carbohydrate EVERY DAY and EVERY MEAL. It is hard to keep your lbs off with the Atkins program.

Next you need to make sure that you are not eating more than you excercise. This means: Calorie counting. Sure it's a pain, but do it. Because it's the only way to monitor if you're eating too much. A woman should stick to less than 2000 calories a day. Once you get the hang of things with flavor filled fat reduced food, you can easily get it down to 1700 range.

Excercise. Equally important as diet. Every other day of 30 minutes will do you fine. But the key here is 30 minutes of meaningful excercies. Crunches and curls won't do it. They don't move enough muscles in one movement. You need to first make sure you incorporate cardiovascular workout with your routine. This means that (your main purpose is to lose weight) you need to do a lot of CIRCUIT WORKOUT. This is the type of workout which you will do one excercise after another without any breaks inbetween. (which is why 30 minutes is more than plenty to lose weight) You need to do excercise such as: pushups, squats, lunges, alternate leg raise, knee lifts, lunges with shoulder press, back raises, burpees, etc. The ones I mentioned above are more than enough for you to start off. Just make sure that you do at least 6 to 7 of these things in a ROW. Then take a minute break. Then do it again. In 30 minutes, you should be able to do about 5 to 6 sets.

Anyway what I wrote is very basic. But that's all you need, since you're not trying to compete for Mz Fitness USA.

Good luck and congratulations once again!!

It's doable, but if you need a slap in the face to lose 25 pounds in a year, it's probably not gonna happen. Just get bigger. It's gonna happen after the wedding. You don't want to tease your new husband with a week of hotness when you're just gonna blow back up again.

Yes! Definitely. At least 5 days/wk for 1hr/day.Guaranteed. Professionals say that it takes 21 days to make something a "habit" My weightlifting coach said it & my Martial arts Sensei made me do it. it works! Good Luck I know you can do it.Maybe even write your thoughts down when you don't feel like it. Even if you don't lilke it, do the 15 min. drill, go out for 15 minutes, if you want to rest or can't go on, stop, but never just blow it off. Get dressed, get psyched & go for it, even if you have to back off & take it a little easy that day.
