Never speak to a debt collector on the phone, always do things in writing.

It is up to you to demand pay for delete and to pay a percentage of the debt, not the collectors. They don't give a &*)* about deleting and they will never ever bring it up unless you do.

Always send a debt validation letter first and send it certified mail return receipt. Then, if you are still within SOL in your state, or if you are out of SOL but still want to pay, send them a pay for delete letter.

If you are out of SOL, you are not legally bound to pay.

You might go to the site I've listed and do some reading in the newbie forum and then in the credit forum.

You will be able to find the SOL for your state and information on how to deal with the collection agency, the credit bureaus etc.

ummm ok these people must think debt collectors are credit bureaus or that they can LIE to credit bureaus.

If you paid a debt then legally it shows on your credit as zero balance with an R9 or an I9 which means the original creditor had to write it off as bad debt.

Why in the world would a collector ERASE your bad debt? that's like asking a bank teller to ERASE all your nsfs. They may be able to delete FEES but not the BAD action that started it all. yes ... .they do have the authority to settle a debt for less than the amount owed....so yes negotiate that....if you want....but they cannot under any circumstances lie to the credit bureaus.

The deficit is time constrained. For the debt we tal on the subject of the twelve months. The debt or surplace is the cummlative quantity from each and all of the years mixed. Ex: in case you began at 0 and had a million trillion greenback deficit for each twelve months for sixteen years then the debt is sixteen trillion however the deficit could merely be the present twelve months and equivalent to a million trillion. Budgets don't have deficits or surpluses. they are merely estimates of the place the spending will happen. in basic terms actuality creates deficit or debt. Tha is why they are asserting Clinton produced a surplus yet he on no account did. His budget projected one yet we had adverse funds pass for the twelve months (deficit).

Yes, anyone who reports to the bureaus can delete what they have reported.

After agreeing to a settlement over the phone which will include deleting negative information, mail or fax a variation of this sample letter and get it signed before paying them:

Name of Creditor:
Address:
Re: account #

This letter is to confirm our telephone conversation on (date) regarding the settlement of the above account.

As discussed, I will pay your company the amount of $_____ as full settlement of this account.

Upon receipt of the above consideration, your company has agreed to to change the entry on my credit file to “paid satisfactory”. In addition, any adverse credit information regarding my account, such as “late payment” or “charge off” should be deleted from from my report.

If you pay an old debt, call them FIRST. Tell them you want it in writing that once you pay them in full, they will clear it off your trw or expedia report. But, you don't negotiate with them. They give it to you in writring FIRST and then you pay them. Chances are, they will. Good luck. (been there done that)
