I broke up with my ex 6 months ago, and I think I am ready to get back into the dating saddle again, so I met this guy from the internet that was really nice, but he isn't physically my type. He was too short and smokes. He says he wants to take me dancing (not at a club, ballroom), which I think would be fun, but if I'm not so physically attracted to him (he's not ugly), should I go to see if I'm ready to date? Would that be mean? He seems like a nice guy, and I know that we would make good friends, but IDK if I would get romantically involved. How can I keep him as a friend, without particularly leading him on? When we IM'd each other, it seemed like we had alot in common, and I would like to make new friends, but I'm not sure about dating. .. thanks. I don't want to hurt his feelings, that's why I haven't done anything yet.

before you go out with him, tell him upfront that at the moment your not ready for a relationship but you would like to be friends with him. that way he knows how you feel and it wont be awkward for both of you.
maybe over time you will might find that he is a lovely person inside and that you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. good luck.

Tell him you want to go out and just have some fun. That you are not ready for a relationship. If u meet him and you are having second thoughts on the relationship then tell him. Have fun.If anything you may gain an extra friend.

Simple just tell him you only want to be friends. Or tell him your interested in going dancing and hanging out but your not ready to date anybody.
