No, I do not believe that Christianity is a cult. However, having said that, I must include that there are some cults that base their beliefs on the Christian Bible. If you really want an answer to this question, look beyond the superficial and compare Jesus with all the other religious leaders; He was and still is "head and shoulders" above all others just in stature of character and in the wisdom of his words. But besides those credentials, he had the power to heal the sick, the blind, the deaf, raise the dead, and forgive sin. And he proved it by doing it, not just mouthing the words. Anybody could, and many have, claimed to be from heaven, but no power! Only Jesus demonstrated that He was the True One, with a sinless life and powerful miracles. If you want to write him off as a cult, that is your choice, but i would encourage you to actually read the New Testament first. You may find, as did I, that that long haired dude was "God with us"

CULT: 1. formal religious veneration (respect or reverence) 2. a religious system 3. faddish devotion; also a group of persons showing such devotion

It is as simple as picking up a good ol' dollar dictionary...
I guess that yes, it very well sounds right.

Don't want to offend the Christians though, they must associate the word cult with dark matters even the dictionary says nothing about that of the word.

CULT does mean religion basically, good or bad... whatever.

EVERYBODY is part of some cult, something you believe in... and even if you don't. I am sure whatever you believe is believed many others too.

Are you part of a cult? ....sounds like it to me but either way it doesn't bother me.

Is the Christian Cult busting down your door or you just trying to stir? I was just wondering, either way it doesn't bother me.

It just sounds like you are trying to make a point to me. Point well made, yes Christians... you too are a CULT.

NOTHING wrong with cults... we all belong to something, even if it is nothing. So who are we bothering... there is no offense to be taken because none can be given.

Not at all! A cult of what? A cult is usually defined as an aberration of some mainstream religion. So if Christianity is a cult, of what is it a cult of? Someone claiming to be God does not necessarily a cult make. That person's claim is either true or false. If false then he needs to check in at the local mental institution and stay away from him. If true, then we need to check him out and stay with him.

It may granted that it is a cult. But, where did you see that 'long-haired' guy walking around saying he is the son of god?
Is the 'Cult' offending you? Why do you bother about it?

Just because people painted Him as a hippie doesn't mean that he looked that way--See how the ancient Hebrews, especially Judah's tribe looked--Esther 1:1. For many years in the same Europe, all the churches in Europe depicted Him and his mother as Afro-Hamitic. In 1958 Ian Begg addressed the artistic switch. The church that hired the Florentine model decided that that was decreed by their supreme elder and any change would challenge His supreme power.
On your second issue, the following people prophesied specific things about Him: the Hebrew prophets: Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 11:11, Isaiah 53, Micah in Micah 5:2, Moses, Jeremiah, Daniel, and King David in Psalm 22, 51, 87, Micah 5:2, Jeremiah and over 300 others. others. Also Prophet Mohammed-Sura 2:87, and ninety-plus other suras.
I will promise you this, and it will happen. Sometime in the future, you will be confronted by an strong evil Spirit and what you know or do ont know about that same person will determine the outcome of that spiritual battle. Say I prophet Boaz prophesied that.

Boaz.

I think some of them are cults. Not the majority of them. I am not a Christian but my sister says she is. I think her church is a cult. The preachers are called a prophet and a prophetess. The tell you what color clothing to wear to church each Sunday. They tell you that you have to be on a liquid diet for so many days. They tell you you can only eat fruit for so many days. They keep tabs on how much you give to the church for different things and if they think you are not giving enough they will let you know. They say all the missionary women have to dress in a white nurses uniform. There are many more things they tell you that you have to do and I think it is more a cult than a church.

Christianity is most certainly a cult, and unfortunately, with a huge following. Christianity is also one of the most destructive cults in existence, but with joy and freedom that technology and the internet brings to the masses, many people are being saved from this vicious cult, and are able at last to see the inherent dangers for themselves.

This question actually isn't bad.

Definition of Cult...
A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

Christianity fits some aspects of this definition.

Definition of a Cult
A system or community of religious worship and ritual.

Christianity definitley fits this definition. There are many Christian cults in this sense.

Of course they are a cult, but this--quite honestly--is becaue the true meaning of a cult is a group of people who believe something in common and have either overtly or subtly ritualized modes of behavior. What distinguishes it from other cults, from the loonie ones right down the the harmless/benign ones like..."trekkies" is that they go around degrading and disrespecting other social structures that they believe compete against them.

You can't blame entire Christians for that. Christianity is The only true religion if they follow The Bible and follow things as per that. All the other religions and some of so called religions like Jehovah witness are cults.
