cutting is not addicting.

What it is however, is a particulalry unhealthy way to deal with unwelcome, uncomfortable, or unwanted emotions. The emotional release that people who cut experiance can be comforting, or at least temporarily relaxing.

Cutting can also be a particularly unhealthy way to demand attention from others. Particularly for girls.

There are many more effective coping stratigies, as well as MANY more effective ways to get the attention you need.

A good place to start is to seek the guidance of a profesional councelor. There is one in your area who will see you for whatever you are able to pay. Much cheeper than hospital bills - and ultimatly leading to a mch happier life too.

Cutting is an addictive behaviour, just the same as using drugs or smoking cigarettes. When someone cuts [or otherwise hurts him or herself], his or her brain releases endorphines. These are the same brain chemicals that cause 'runner's high' and are like opiates - which are the same chemicals that are used in cocaine. In other words, your body gets pleasure-causing chemicals when you cut yourself, almost exactly like the chemicals your body gets artificially if you were to use cocaine. This is why its SO addicting and SO hard to stop - after all, people find it very understanding that people have a hard time quitting drugs.

i do not study about persons, yet for me reducing develop right into a launch from negative thoughts. It develop right into a fashion to enable my unhappiness and anger out, variety of like screaming or hitting a pillow. it is the adrenaline. i develop into under no circumstances somewhat addicted to it, yet i will verify how someone ought to lose all different coping skills and develop into depending on reducing. everyone who tells you it is not any longer addictive is ignorant.

For the same exact reason I burn myself. To deal with your emotions in a physical way. Its easier to feel the physical pain than emotional and you can fix it afterwards not your emotions.

It's a way to manifest emotional pain physically, so you are more able to deal with it. I strongly suggest seeing a doctor--you may be depressed.
