The Mayan 2012 prophecy is VERY INTERESTING, not because it contains any truth or non-truth, but because it says a LOT about a culture that has since gone extinct. As for the year 2012, call I can say is that the only definitive prophecy concerning that year is simple: "At the end of 2011, a new year shall begin, and in beginning, this new year shall be known as 2012 and at the end of that particular 12 month period, the world of 2012 will end, and the world of 2013 will begin." That's about it as far as anyone knows.

However, I cannot and will not discount the possibility that perhaps the Mayan people were actually plotting out some major event, such at the return of a comet or a seasonal cycle that repeats on a regular, but widely spaced basis...this doesn't have to mean some form of transcendence or destruction of human culture is guaranteed to occur, it simply means that perhaps in 2012 something strange will happen. The thing is...every year since there have been humans on this planet, something strange has happened.

I didn't visit your link. I will tell you what I already know and you can add it to your store of information. There's a lot of dis-information floating around so you've really got to do research.
The impetus behind a lot of the 2012 hysteria is that the Mayan calendar is ending, and IT'S NOT. Calendars and time don't end. What is ending is the 12th Baktun (a Baktun is 396 years long)--similar to our calendar going from 1999 to 2000. On the first day of the 13th Baktun, 12-21-2012, there is a grand astronomical alignment which only happens every 26,000 years. At dawn the sun will rise against the dark area of the Milky Way. To the Maya, this signified the re-birth of the sun and the start of of a new world age. Nothing about the old one ending...in fact it's been over for many years.

It will no the the end of the world, But the end of the world that we know. It will be a new age of feminine energy in which we will all connect into that feminine side of our self's ( intuitiveness) love, caring and nurturing. Which will cause a great peace on earth. It will Be a time when we connect with the Christ consciousness, This is what Christ talks about the second coming. We will vibrate faster therefore leaving behind slow vibration like fear and artificial man made objects. For the Universe destroys falseness. This is why only the pyramids remain, cos it is made from earth. And why there are no remains of ancient civilisations that have lived hear eons and eons ago. This is a natural cycle to cleans the earth and all its inhabitants. I didn't like your web site. I prefer 2012.com.au

I would say it is about as accurate as every other prediction for the end of the world has been. Back in 1981 I sat through a sermon where the preacher said the world would end in 1983. D'oh!

Personally, I don't worry about it. When the end comes, it comes. There isn't anything we're going to be able to do to stop it, so why worry about it? Besides, I'm a Christian, so I'm set, whether it's the end of the world or I die of something else.

BTW, I was at the supermarket last week and the Weekly World News said Armageddon begins in August, so who ya gonna believe? The Mayans or the Weekly World News?

there isn't any would desire to be afraid. there became no Mayan prophecy. That became made up, alongside with something of the 2012 hoax. there'll be no international ability outage for any quantity of time, no longer to show for 5 years. there'll in all probability be none in any respect. We merely had an x classification flare. Did you spot something in any respect? No, the solar won't blow up, ever. it is not only about super adequate to pass nova. while it runs out of Hydrogen interior the middle, this is going to grow to be a purple good sized, in approximately 5 billion years. there is no longer something to signify that 2012 would be something different than a classic twelve months.

Like most spiritual concepts, this is precisely the kind of thing that is most irrational. Oddly enough, however, this prophesy gains credibility just by virtue of the coincidence that it comes just as humans are running out of time to correct the damage they have inflicted on the environment or suffer extreme consequences. After all, we live in a world with over 6 billion people. Our population is even expected to double in another ten or so years. And, the latest forecasts predict that by 2100 AD, there will only be just over a billion humans left on the planet. We, as a species, are about to experience a mass extinction, unless we slow, halt, and hopefully reduce global warming.

I heard about it several years ago, and I've been waiting. I don't know how much there is to it, but I hope something really sweet happens. Maybe the leylines will activate and an unseen voice (if we are so generous to call it that) will dictate a new order, and whosoever hears that cosmic echo will be given to strange dreams and forbodings of a rupture between this world and the other, indescribable visions of long-dead cities from out of space, crimson landscapes of blood-soaked, undulating human flesh, and glimpses of the fourth dimension made visible. Or maybe not.

I've always thought that's just where their calendar ended because of their numerical sysytem. I may be wrong. I don't think it has anything to do with some belief of theirs that the world was going to end.

Besides, because measuring time was until very recently an inherently imprecise science, there is no way to know exactly what year it is according to the Mayans.

I read somewhere that according to the Aztec calender the world will end/transform on a very specific date or around it. This was because of the Aztec astrologers, who found a way to put it into the calender. The calender goes on and on I think. The last time that the calender predicted the end/tranformation of the world, Hernan Cortez arrived in America around the time the calender predicted. We all know what this meant to the Aztecs in the time to come. Probably one of the reasons the aztecs thought he was a god.
