you've got a good start in knowing that you do that.

Try re training yourself. I used to do that, so I started doing other things, playing tetris, showering, taking a bath, reading, painting my nails. Find something which relaxes you and do that.

Do you eat cause you love food, or is it just what comes naturally when u are stressed? Cause other people do other things when they are stressed like smoke, drink, yell.
Try replacing all bad snacks with healthy ones. Carrot sticks even with a little dip, lowfat pretzels, cinnamon rice cakes. If it's just something to do, try other things...exercising releases stuff in the brain that helps relieve some stress and even anxiety. Also it helps you feel better... you get a natural high.
Habits are hard to break but you can form new healthier ones. Draw, create something, relaxation tapes, learn to knit.
Hope I helped some...Good luck!

Whenever you get stressed and find yourself reaching for the food, go do something else like taking a walk or turning on some music and dancing to it. If you take up a different habit, one that's healthy for you, you'll not only break the habit but you'll get in better shape as well.

Don't eat when you're stressed! I know that sounds simple, but it really is just that simple. Change your thought process, pre-think of how you are going to deal with stress so that the next time you feel it, you will have a plan of action.

Say to yourself, "whenever I feel stress, I am going to ________ instead of eat." And then do that. Visualize yourself not eating when you feel down or stressed out and you won't! It really works. Mind over matter, sis.

Best wishes!

May I suggest you try to develope a habit which keeps you busy when you're stressed out? Like cleaning, laundry, etc which keeps you away from the fridge and food stuff? You'd be distructed enough to forget your craving for food. The main focus should be to be away from access to food including vending machines. It'd be hard the irst few times but you get into the habit..Hope it helps...

i Do that...i still do that. But to improve on such a bad habit....I go shopping for healthier foods. Sugar free, fat free cheesecakes. More fresh fruit. Gourmet breads. Vegies I can munch on. Lite ice cream.

Yup shop when feeling good. Stock up on healthy alternatives. so when stressed and you really feel you have to eat, at least you are eating healthy.

I used to also be an emotional eater. The obvious answer is to find healthier alternatives to cope with stress.Take a walk.Pick up a hobbie of some sort.Or if the problem is more severe then seek professional counselling.

you can still eat when you are stressed...just make wise food choices....like have a big ziplock bag ready in the frig with all kinds of cut up veggies...like: bellpeppers, carrot, celery, radishes, etc...or keep nonfat yogurt handy...whatever is lo-cal.....you can eat these...de-stress...and you are doing your body good! p.sp....make popcorn with no butter...shake on Molly McButter, for flavor...have a bag handy...I did that and lost 8lbs.

When you feel like you want to eat something go brush your teeth. Sounds funny, I know, but after you brush your teeth, nothing will taste good. Your dentist will be happy with you the next time you see him too.
