not always. and when something bad happens, you should get a new hope insteed. Life is full of dissapointment, sometimes you just need to take the plunge and have hope even if it's hard. life is to short to always expeect disappointment!

Yes... yes it does. I'm totally the type of person who avoids hoping too much for things for that exact reason... that I might be disappointed. I'm not a cynic, believe me... but I always kept my guard up because I hated being disappointed, so I tried not to expect much from situations or from people... but over time I realized that by doing that you are totally robbing yourself of the amazing feeling of hoping and being rewarded for that hope (for example hoping to win award and winning, or hoping for a certain guy or girl to ask you out, and them finally asking). When you don't hope you rob yourself of that high...
You gotta put yourself out there sometimes and make yourself vulnerable... eventually it will pay off, and it will feel great.
I just re-read your question and realized that this may have been a little more than you wanted, lol.
If your question was the yes or no kind... I'll have to say yes, haha.

that's a different way of thinking about it... but doesn't not playing mean you'll never get hurt? life is all about hope and disappointment, how else we learn to cope with our lives?

I recently learned that if I don't expect too much I will never be disappointed.

Yes. Not everything is going to go your way. But you should still hope for the best but prepare for the worst or however that saying goes.

Hope is waiting for the unseen. Sometimes you will hope for the unachievable. Sometimes you will reach the destiny your hope stives for. Hoping, is in all practicality wishing. So yes, you will have dissapointment. But other times you will be rewarded.
