I weighed 118 lbs when I was 11, too! It's called puberty, and your dad may not think you're ready for it yet. The good news is, you are becoming a woman, and your body is changing. The bad news is, you may have to go through some awkward times before it's all said and done.
Try to exercise and eat right, and when you're older, you will have a killer figure!
If your dad says something about your weight again, tell him that he hurt your feelings. Sometimes, parents say things without thinking about how it makes you feel.

Sometimes parents don't say the right things because they don't know how. I'm sure your dad only wants the best for you and being heavy is unhealthy. I think he's only trying to help you. If he is constantly on your case, ask him to go for a walk or a bike ride. If he really thinks you need to loose weight I bet he'd go along with you. (I'm not sure if 118 is over weight for an 11 year old or not but your doctor would he's the best person to talk to!)

As the others said, it depends on how tall you are. But if your dad isn't trying to create a new super model, you might consider what he said. There must be a reason for him. And just being rude is usually no reason for dad to act upon.
Don't worry to much but take a look at your weight compared to your height and think about it a bit. And finally come up with your own conclusion.

First off I am 5'.4" and 150 pounds and people think I am small. I wear a size 6. It is all in the way you carry your weight and your bone structure. You are way to young to start worrying about your weight. Just watch what you eat, less sweets and junk food. Your never to young to watch what you eat just don't stop eating. Always get three meals a day and eat lots of dairy and fresh fruits. I made a diet to help me and my fiance because our jobs consist of sitting on our butts mostly and we eat plenty of good healthy foods and it does include some sweets. Dairy does help in maintaining a good weight balance. Let people say what they want, smile, let it go in one ear and out the other. Consider the source and be happy with who you are. Those are only words not sticks and stones. I know he's your father and sometimes parents don't have the best judgement in what comes out their mouths. After all parents are only human and do make mistakes to. Chin up and always believe in yourself and who you are. If you are not happy with youself how can anyone else be.

I urge you to look up the data on diets.. most people who go on diets only diet their way to a very obese status... Your dad was out of line to even say such a thing to you... what you should be doing is eat 6 small meals per day... and drink lots of water... make your meals healthy... and limit your portions... but never get on the diet roller coaster ride... your meals can be celery and carrots for a snack.. a small piece of grilled chicken and a healthy vegetable add fruit and you can even splurge every now and then and eat a treat.. if you try to not eat things it will only cause you to gain weight... I know that my brother tells his daughter who is a size a 2 that she is overweight.. why these parents do that is beyond me... I think they think they are helping their child but show your father this... and tell him.. he is not helping.. and what he should be doing is seeking a nutritionist to help your whole family to stay healthy.. and be proud of who you are... Good Luck.. :)

well it all depends on how tall you are if you are short than 118 may be "overweight" but if you are average height then you are fine. but honestly you don't have to worry about losing some weight you are 11 so just worry about being a kid.

It depends on how tall you are. If your fairly short then yes you may be a little chubby. Either way though it is a good idea for anyone to be on a healthy diet such as vegetables and fruit. Try to eat healthy snacks such as apples and carrots in ranch dressing instead of junk foods like potato chips.

I don't think that you are over-weight. Not for an 11 year old, my son is 12 and goes 120. He's short, though. If you are tall, it's only bone mass. You're fine, and yes, that was rude of him to say that.

That sounds like a normal weight compared to your height. Tell your dad to get off your back. Its hard enough being a teen these days and you shouldn't be worried about your weight at that age anyway.
