jose rizal was known as the national hero of the philippines because he has contributed so much to the independence of the country when it was under spanish rule without the use of force and violation but through his writings and other works that made sense to everyone.

because he was a multi talented individual with a purpose in life. a philanthropist, well educated from a well to do family, a doctor, travel all over the world, linguistic and among other things, he is a famous novelist that wrote two famous book that is being used in the whole country for their jr & sr years curriculum, "noli me tangere" and "el filibusterismo" condemning the spaniards who occupy the island, he ended up dying for his beloved country through a firing squad in bagumbayan cause the spaniards didn't appreciate the hidden message behind his writing to the filipino people who are planning to start the revolution.
