Higher testosterone levels, over time, will allow your body to build more muscle mass easier. It may also allow a cyclist to recover better after a difficult stage, but a hormone would still be present days after use and show up in subsequent tests.

Given the underlying question about Landis, I find it hard to believe that, in the age of genetic doping, that Floyd would have used of the most easily detected doping substances for a single-day boost.

Apparently testosterone helps you when you can't accept anything but 1st place and you'll do ANYTHING to get it, WHATEVER THE COST. It seems hard to show Landis is innocent, and increasingly easier for some to argue his guilt. I am talking of US doctors & reporters featured in US news shows. I think some folks supporting Landis should now do the mature thing and re-evaluate their stance. I know it sucks.

There can be catastrophic side effects from anabolic steroids. However, athletes who naturally produce more testosterone have a quicker recovery time from muscular injury and build muscle faster than others.

Vitality & Energy. It gives an "edge".
BUT there are STUDIES that show many men have elevated Testosterone form non-drug sources.
