I had both my girls potty trained before a year old. I found a jar with a tight fitting lid and put their favorite candy pieces in it and when she pee'd she got one and pooped she got two. The eldest loved gourmet jellybeans. They will not have a strong enough bladder control in the beginning so yes a diaper or pull up during nap time or night time would be a smart idea. Also give lots of excitement and praise of what a big girl when they go in the potty. Girls love love lots of praise.

If she is ready she will let be excited it she screams and cries each time you try give her some time she may not be ready. Try by setting a timer and putting her on the potty every half hour to get her used to going. If she does go reward her.

Summer time is great for potty training because you can take her outside and let her wear big girl panties and if she has an accident at least she is outside. This will help her to learn not to go in her pants because she shouldn't like to be wet.
As far as naps and bedtime my daughter is three and fully potty trained and I do put her in a pullup at night just in case. Try not to use diapers just pullups as not to confuse her with trying to be a big girl.

Give rewards each time she uses the potty correctly. For my lil sis my mom had this HUGE bowl of little toys and candies, and she would let her pick one out each time she went pee in the potty.
And like, when she was first getting the hang of using the potty, my mom put a pull up on her before naps, but she learned quickly and now my mom just makes sure that she goes to the potty before naps and bedtime.
Hope that helps some

Get her to go potty before her nap and when she wakes up.
