Does anyone know what happens to a women when they usually take their pills at night before that they go to sleep and then one night they forget to take their pill and then eleven hours after that they were supposed to take it they remember and then they take it? What should she do? Can anything happen to her or will she be ok because when she remembered she took the pill?

She'll be fine. Just tell her to take the pill as soon as she remembers, then continue taking it at the normal time. Whatever she does, SHE SHOULD NOT skip an "active" pill!!!! She cannot skip doses! UNLESS this is her menstruation week, then she should throw away the pill and not take it.

If she's not sure about this kind of stuff, she should really read the little instruction packet that comes with her pills. It might vary by Pill. I take Kariva, and for me, it says if you forget to take it, take it as soon as you remember and then continue taking your pills as scheduled. If she is late taking her pi;; two or more days in a row, she needs to use an additional form of contraception if she has sex, but if she's only late on one day, she doesn't need to, but it's not a bad idea to use it just in case. If she's not active and is just using the pill to regulate her period or help with cramping, then it doesn't matter.

So yes, she'll be perfectly fine, nothing will happen. They are just hormones, so it won't hurt to take two less than 24 hours apart or anything like that. She will just have a higher estrogen level for the day and might have a couple mood swings or something. BUT if she skips the dose, her hormone levels will fluctuate too much and it might end up throwing off her menstruation and then for the following month, her body will feel a day behind. If she has already thrown away the instruction packet from the pills, go to the company's website, it should be on there as well. If she hasn't read the instructions, she might also not know that it greatly decreases it's effectiveness if she smokes. It also severely increases her risk for breast cancer in the future. So if she smokes, please get her to quit as soon as possible! If she doesn't smoke, then just ignore that statement lol.

She should try getting a watch with an alarm on it to remind her. I take my pill at 5:15pm, so I know I'm up by then, and I don't have to worry about taking it at work or during dinner or anything, so I always rely on my watch to remind me to take it. If she's always going to be home when she needs to take it, she could get a small dollar store alarm or something, or set an alarm on her computer if it has one, just in case. :-)

PS: I see people suggesting that she just skip the dose, and she cannot do that! I've been on the pill for almost 2 years, and my doctor tells me every time I see her (every 4-6 months) that I need to be consistent with it and always take my pill, not skip any. But like I said, it might vary by brand. I started off taking Mircette, the brand-name pill, and I know for that one you can't skip either. I'm on Kariva (generic version of Mircette) now and you're not allowed to skip doses. My roommate uses a different brand and you can't skip on hers either. So I'm assuming it's that way with most brands. Please have her double check before ever skipping a dose. She can also take them at the same time with no harm done to her if she needs to. If she forgets until the next day entirely when she goes to take her next pill, she should take both together.

The following is an exerpt from www.birthcontrol.com/faq.aspx:

What happens if I miss a dose?

Missing a pill increases the risk of becoming pregnant.

Follow the exact directions on your package information insert concerning missed doses. If you do not have a package information insert, call your pharmacist, doctor, or nurse to find out what to do.

In general:

--If you miss one dose, take it as soon as you remember or take two pills at the time of your next regularly scheduled dose. There is little likelihood that ovulation will occur. You may, however, want to use a second method of birth control such as a condom or a spermicidal cream, jelly, or foam for at least seven consecutive days following the missed tablet to ensure protection from pregnancy.
--If you miss two tablets in a row, take the two missed tablets as soon as you remember or with your next regularly scheduled dose (three total). Or, you may take two tablets each for the next two regularly scheduled doses (one missed tablet plus one regularly scheduled tablet for 2 days in a row). Chances are much greater that you may ovulate so you must use another form of birth control for at least 7 days following the missed tablets. It is even better to use a second method of birth control until your next period.
--If you miss three tablets in a row, throw away the package and start a new package on the 7th day after the last day you took a pill. Use another method of birth control until you have taken a pill for 7 days in a row. Your period should occur during the 7 days without pills. If it doesn't, have a pregnancy test before beginning a new package of pills.

Hope that helps!! :-)

I think she should be fine just make sure that she remembers to take the pill at the same time every day. Or, she could just try the patch, since it's only changed 4 times a month. Either that or the shot, that's only once every three months.

If you forget a dose, and that much time elapses, then I would wait and just take your pill the next day at the regular time, and just skip a dose.

Sometimes you call them mothers! Depends on if she's fertile at the moment! The person should call her doctor and tell him/her just what you've told us. We can't tell you because we aren't doctors. Here's some sites I found for you:
