First you have to ask yourself if you're willing to risk awkwardness in the freindship for a chance at a relationship with him. If you are, move ahead.

There are many ways to bring it up. You could bring up a movie, and talk about how you want to see it, and when he says that he wants to see it, say matter of factly, "you should take me to see it!" and flash a cute smile. That drops a pretty fat hint, but can easily be brushed off, as opposed to "I'm in love with you" which is not so brushoffable. The trick is to make the hint wide and clear, but easily brushoffable if he doesn't accept it openly.

What if you were to say "I came up with this new recipe that is so delicious. You should come over and I'll cook for you!" Notice I say "I'll cook for you" rather than "come over for dinner", because the first is more romantic, while the second ismore freindly. Also, above, "take me to see it" is more romanticly inspired than "we should see that", which is more freindly. Basically, imagine what you'd want him to say to you, and say it to him.

When you ask him out, the words should be specifically catred to who you are and who he is. Since I don't know either of your personalities, I can't give you a good pick up line. What you should do is be creative, catch his interest, but stay true to your interests as well. Find something you have in common, like a concert, or bowling, and jump at the chance. Ask in a direct, romantically minded way.

Then, when on the date, be sure he knows it's a date by saying things like "what do you look for in a woman". Things that guys talk about with other guys and their girlfreinds, but not chick freinds. Dig?

honesty is the best way to go, if both of you are open with each other, you can start by saying, this is weird i know but if you are not interested we can just discuss this and let it go afterward.

You, of course need to be mentally prepared for it to go either way. i.e. if he likes you the same or not.

this way you get closure. If he doesn't feel the same way, then hey, at least you know and you can move on. but if he does like you then you've got it made.

there'll be a bit of awkwardness to begin with, but after a while your friendship will over rule all strange feelings and all things will return to what it was, in fact you could both possibly be even better friends than you are now.

my friend became my boyfriend after we went for a movie together and we held hands during the show. :)

Just tell him how you feel for him. Give it a try otherwise you will never know the answer. Perhaps he might have feelings for you too, talk to him otherwise you might regret in the future.

However if he is matured enough, I believe there's no problems in talking to him. Therefore no worries about humiliation... worst of all, you can still stay as friend with him if he don't want to be your lover. You got nothing to lose...

Just while you are discussing on any subject and both are intense ,that is the time you need a break , ask him to take you out for some refreshment , if he agrees , means he has some feeling for you if he differ , you don't mind and mention you had simply asked . In both you will get your answer without getting humiliated , try it out .

casually suggest to him if he has ever toyed with the notion that you two could ever be more then friends. get a feel for what he is thinking. however if you two have been friends for a while, i doubt he would see you as anything more then a friend otherwise he would have acted on his feeling a long tiome ago. if he says he wouldnt want to ruin the friendship, he is saying that he is not attracted to you in that way.

This is easy, TELL HIM!!!!! and tell him now. Don't beat around the bush....... If you can't be open and honest about how you feel for someone now, how do you expect to later on in a relationship?
