Hi Plutosangel. Yes, u can compress mp3 using WinZip, WinRAR, WinACE. However, mp3 is already in a compressed form. so, even if u compress it, u compress about 1% out of it. if u are lucky 2%. so it will only reduce about roughly 1% of the total size of your mp3.

Compressing Mp3 Files

there is two ways to do this one is to use regular zip program to compress all the mp3 files but this will not free up much of free space the other way is to reduce the bit rate of Ur mp3 files . normally mp3 are encoded at 124 kbs but u can decrease the bit rate to around 90 kbs without any major decrease in quality and u can save nearly 1 MB per 5 MB song . decreasing bit rate further will reduce the bit rate to noticeable level . http://www.myzips.com/software/Alt-WAV-MP3-WMA-OGG-Converter(2).phtml download this program to alter the bit rate hope this work for you.....

Use Winzip. You can get a copy off of www.freecreed.com. It's a great program to compress your mp3's. And it's as simple as zipping and unzipping to compress and decompress it. Great program. Also for free.

You could try a zip program called 7zip, it tends to compress more than most programs like winzip or winrar.

Its free

Also you could put your mp3's onto a CD or DVD and remove them from your hard drive that way they are backed up on a disc and you can delete them from your hard drive to get space back.

use itunes, convert it to acc format, it makes each song about 1.5-2.5 mb smaller. All of my songs that were 5 mb are now 2.5mb and there is absolutely no decrease in quality.
