I remember at my wedding. I thought about it for a moment. Should I or should I not? I thought I would do it anyway. I loved doing that to my husband. Though a big problem was, that if I smashed the cake in his face then I would get an even bigger piece thrown into my face. And guess what? He did throw a bigger piece into my face. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't hold the cake anymore. The pictures are hillarious. My face was covered with cake and frosting. :) I think it is okay to do that at a wedding. I had always wanted to do it since I can remember and I got my chance, just with a bigger piece coming my way.

In reality, only about 5 -10% of people do the cake face smash. It makes a mess of hair, make-up, and clothes. The nicer, gentler feeding is more romantic, with maybe a finger of frosting touching the nose tip.
With that said, I know a guy who was caught off guard by his wife smashing the cake in his face. he was really MAD! HE was unaware of the "tradition" because he hadn't been to any weddings before. He was so mad, he grabbed the bride by the back of the head and dunked her face into the cake. she cried and cried!

My husband was very eager the whole engagment to smash my face with cake. I wasn't too eager, becasue i was worrying aboutmymakeup, the dress, blah blah blah pictures blah. But you know what? The dj put on a fantastic cake smahing song (hit me with your best shot) and I dunno, I realized this was the only time I'd get to make my hubby look like a little kid with cake on his face with tons of ppl watching and get away with it! It was great, because it caught him unawares, and usually the guys are nice abou tit. they are not going to push it up your nose, or make it so you have to run to the bathroom to wash your face and reapply your makeup, nor do they relish the thought of you walking around the rest of the night with frosting on your dress that will inevitably have to be cleaned with their money! it was a lot of fun, and i know that when I ever went to anyone's wedding and they didn't do it, most guest were really disspointed. The ceremony may be for you and your sweety, but face it, the reception is the party you throw for your guests. you can have your own party after youmake your friends happy with the best wedding they've gone to where the bride and groom were relaxed and fun!

Here the deal one of the biggest guest gripes is cake in the face it is passive agressive and makes guest fell totally uncomfortable like the bride and groom had a fight and decided to continue with the weddding for the gifts and are still angry at each other that their flinmging cake at each other plus it is total trashy and shows lack of class.

Personally I think it is way over played out! I agree with you I don't like it. Especially if it is a formal affair....shoot even if it wasn't I don't like it. My fiancee and I have a little inside joke going on that if he does it to me then I won't take his last name lol (though of course that wouldn't happen) My fiancee and I are very goofy with each other and are always laughing and being silly but I just don't find humor in cake in the face. What I did since we both are kind of silly was sit down with my hubby to be and told him my feelings on it. I let him know that I didn't think it was funny and I really wanted him to restrain from doing it. Then of course I had to throw my little threat in there for laughs. But he said that he was glad I said something to him because he would have done it. But since we have that respect for each other he won't....well he better not!!!

I'm soooooo going to do that when I get married. It adds a bit of humor to the "formality" of the wedding. Besides, when is "face cake smashing" approved of in other time? never. So, enjoy it when you can!

From a girl's perspective, its supposed to be the best day of your life, and girls obsess over trying to make sure everything is perfect. That includes hair, make up and dress, to have that ruined in one smash of cake after getting ready for hours, I think that sucks.

It disgusts me....I did NOT pay close to $1000 for a dress $150 for hair and makeup and all that, $2,000 for a photographer and $1,000 for a videographer to have the whole day ruined with icing up my nose.....I threatened my husband with his life if he did that to me....(as did my mother)....i think its stupid and the bride and groom look rediculous when they do it...it's childish...what a way to start a marriage....cramming cake in the face of the one you love....

That is so tacky. My husband would have slept alone that night, had he been stupid enough to smash cake in my face. It's such a trashy, low life thing to do.
