Is it possible that God is actually two holy beings, a man and a woman, and that the two together form our Almighty God? Heres a verse from Genesis that had me wondering this: Genesis 2:26 "Then God said, "Let Us make man(kind) in our image, according to Our likeness;...So God created man(kind) in His own image;...male and female He created them."

Notice how it says OUR image? Our means more than ONE. And also take note that God creates man AND woman. And to which THEM does it refer to? Mankind, or the two of them, male and female God?

Even in Native Religon, the earth was Mother, and the sky was Father. There were two that made up the world, not just one. Do think there could be two Gods? Our Father AND Mother God?

I would say that god is infinite, so much so that we cannot comprehend, so yes it is in fact possible that God is a man or a woman, or all things at once. I, like many others answering, have not personally shaken hands with God so I speak clearly hypothetically, however I at least acknowledge that what I say is not fact by theory. Keep in mind when the bible was written. The bible was written during a time when men were in charge, so from a societal standpoint it makes logical sense that the God written about would also be a male.

While some may say impossible because Christianity is monotheistic, we also believe in the trinity yet still uphold the idea of monotheism.

When you get an answer from someone who has shared a tea with God then you can know for sure, but until then you're bound to hear a lot of speculation passed off as "fact."

No, I believe that the WE it refers to is the father, the word of God, and the holy spirit.
Now we say the father, the son, and the holy ghost, because the word of God was made flesh. (Jesus).

God the father, is the creator of Earth and Life.
God the holy spirit is who impregnated the virgin Mary.
God's word is now Jesus. (In the beginning was the word, and the word was God, and the word was with God).

It is all just the Supreme being, God. There is only one. God is a jealous God, so He would not have another person to share His singular title.

He could have also been referring to his host of angels. Satan was an Angel. There were male and female angels, and even the males were described as beautiful. We reserve the compliment of beautiful for women today, and handsome for men.

In the native religions, to which I am part native american, we refer to the earth as Mother, because it produces. New life is brought forth from her. The sky furnishes what is needed for the earth to produce, like the sun, wind and rain, so it is called father, because that is what fathers do.

God is the higher power. The concept that God is either male or female is nonsensical. If God is one, then "He" is the embodiment of all.

Male and female characteristics are in all living beings. Look within and look around.

English uses "he," "she," and ocassionally "one" to denote a single being. "It" usually signifies an inanimate object or lesser being. In a male dominated society, "he" is almost always used when the sex is unknown (although we are now seeing "s/he"). Unless the original languages of the Bible had a "s/he" to use, I'm hard pressed to believe that the use of "he" is identifying God's sex. For that matter, the idea that God has a sex, seems a bit silly. Why would the Almighty who can create anything need a penis? That is a serious question, not a flip remark.

I'm 100% with Branwen on this one. Life is all about balance, no one sex is better than the other. To produce an offspring you must have both the man and the woman, they both donate to the offsring in some way. Why should the creation of all existence be any different?

People; keep your minds open and stop treating other people like idiots just because they believe something different than you.

Keep on questioning everything Doug, no matter who thinks you are wrong, the only right answer for questions like these is the one that lies in your heart (apologies for that sounding so corny). But seriously, deep down you know the answer that's right for you.

Good luck in your quest for enlightenment!

What! God is "three" in "one": The Father; the son; and the Holy Ghost. Everyone in the world looks different so no one could look exactly like Him. Plus, Many times in the bible (you should read it more) it mentions the "Three in one". Nowhere does it mention "two" Almighty beingings nor does it ever mention any of them being "female". All your argument has is one verse that you have twisted. and just because some Indians believe something doesn't mean a thing. Grow up and get some logic!

Not exactly. God transcends male and female, that is why both man and woman are said to be in God's image. For that matter, God transcends number; we say God is one, we (Christians) say God is also three, and yet not three Gods but one God. The Deity cannot be defined by a number. So, I guess, maybe you could say that God is two as well as one and three. If it helps you relate to God more easily, there's probably no harm in it, as long as you understand the limitations of language in talking about God.

If you read the same account in the Nag Hammadi it is pretty amazing.
The Gnostics claim that the "Creator God" Is an imperfect demon that screwed everything up! And he is not even top dog!!!
If you go on-line and look up the "Nag Hammadi Library" and then find the book called the "Origins of the World" they explain a lot more than what the bible does.

It is not possible because there is no God. There is just the human condition of suffering and the ignorance of it. Wanting to please a God so that you may receive a reward or stave of punishment, this is unproductive to mental and spiritual growth. Take responsibility for you own actions, replace faith with wisdom and you will find life to become easier. Wisdom is the understanding of the true nature of things. A lot of people can be intelligent, wisdom comes from experience, experience for them selves. Ignorance's causes suffering, wisdom on how to do things for you self, find the cause of problems as they are, not how you perceive them. This is the true path to enlightenment.

God AlMighty is one ONE. and its not 1 in the term of mathematics that it is one of many, but it means ONE, such that there is no one else. in the Torah God says: "I__ And I Alone Am God, all other gods are unreal." meaning there are no other gods. it does not says that other gods are fake as that would lead to their existence, but it says "unreal" meaning non-existent. in Torah it is also written:
"Worship no god but Me.
Do not make for yourself images of anything
in the heavens or in the earth
or in the water beneath the earth.
Do not bow down to any idol or worsip it.
For I am the God, Your Lord
and I tolerate no rivals."

all prophets and messengers preached about the Oneness of God so that people resort to the sole worship of One God only rather than bowing before idols or demi-gods. God is the One and the Absolute, God is not the Son of anyone neither is there any son from God. There is No one like God. The word God means:
G-Generator
O-Organizer
D-Destroyer
meaning God is the generatore and Organizer of everything in this universe and its beyond and ultimately everyting will perish but God will remain. For further reading and studying please go to:
