Before I go into detail, I'd like to point out that I am NOT, in fact, reffering to all Christians. That being said, I am partly of the gothic culture, and I am tired of Christians descriminating against me and saying I worsip the devil. I am a Buddhist, far from a satanist, and yet they are constantly trying to convert me. Even though I don't believe in the Devil, God, Heaven, or anything of their religion. So basicly I am asking, why can't I be left alone and have people respect my choice of religion?

awnery> I'd suggest you know something about what you are talking about before you say it. Sumo are Japanese, Buddhism started around India. And no Buddhist "worships" anything.

I think when people criticize someone who is of a different religion or culture it is about fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear to learn about anything different. I think Christians, ( I am one), don't realize how they come across. I think some just want to help you because they think you are headed in the wrong direction. But what they fail to see is that all of us have free will. We make our own choices and no one else can tell or brow beat another into changing.

Unfortunately, many who call themselves Christians do discriminate. Being a Christian is not a religion, it means being like Christ. Jesus did not discriminate against anyone, He loved them no matter what they did. He spent most of His life teaching those, who people today would not give the time of day to. Jesus, was Gods son sent to the earth and lived a life without sin. He gave His life freely to die for our sins,in three days he rose again and now lives in heaven. (because He loved us so much) He was willing to die on the cross so we can live eternally with Him. I know you may not believe in God...but He still loves you, and believes in you. He created you to be one of a kind, you have a purpose on this earth. Look around you ,do you ever wonder how everything turned out the way it did. Even your body alone is so amazing how everything works together. For a moment let youself believe that there could be a Heavenly Father, that loves you and wants you to live forever with Him. You can do that by asking Jesus into your heart, to believe in Him and that He died for you, and then let Jesus in everything you think and do. I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience, with someone who thought they were representing Christ . Christianity is about a relationship with Christ not a religion. I pray that you will search out Jesus and find out who he really is. Please go to www.notreligion.com to find out more.

There is an AWFUL lot of descriminating in your question and a lot of the answers. Think of people as people..individuals. I am a Christian...I appreciate your being "partly of the gothic culture" and also a Buddhist...thats your decision. If we met, I would tell you my beliefs, but then...I'd leave you alone. See, it says in my Bible that we are only to plant the seed...God will do the rest...see I told ya my belief anyway lol now I'll leave you alone lol

First of all, learn to spell discriminate. Why is it only Christians? If you have a problem with your religion, regarding what other people think, why let them know what you profess as your calling to a higher power. Buddhism is a religion that teaches suffering is inherited and that one can be released from it by moral and mental self-purification. Most people would not understand that . The best thing for you to do, is forget about what other people think about you and what religion you are, and pursue the road to self-purification. The ball is in your court!!!

christians go after everyone else everyone else goes after christians. It's the nature of the beast so to speak if your lifestyle doesn't fit somone elses they assume it's evil. and therefore want to "convert" you. Only problem is there are those that see goth and say "oh shes a satinist he must save her/him" and tend to try to do so without asking any questions first. ya can't blame them for caring enough to try to save your soul but you can blame them for not asking if either you want it saved or there is a reason.
next time one does this try a little you share i share deal and exchange you listen to there side even if you don't believe it and they listen to your side of how it feels to be labeled a satinist all the time. Explian to them how it feels to be "attacked and there could have been a better aproach to how they spread there message. you both probly won't see each other as right but they might open there eyes that not everyone gothic is a satinist just different and you might understand a little more about why they do what they do. They might change the way they try to share there message.
the more people talk to each other the more doors it opens to understanding . If we don't know about each other then it's harder to respect each other. A society without respect is no longer a society. just angry people living together......

When it comes to the God of the Bible, there are only two possibilities you can worship. Either you worship Him or not. There is no inbetween. If you are not worshipping Him, then anything else is taken by Satan as worship for him. You might not think that is who you are worshipping, but if you aren't worshipping the God of the Bible, that's who you are serving.
There is only One God. If you do not worship Him as He reveals Himself in the pages of the Bible, then the god you are worshipping is a false one. You might not believe in the Devil, but that doesn't change the fact that he is real and any worship that doesn't go to God goes right to him.
If Christianity is the truth and there really is only One God, then why would it be discriminating to try to keep people from going to hell by urging them to believe the truth? Wouldn't we be horrible people if we DIDN'T tell you the truth that would keep you from that kind of eternity?

Don't feel bad - it's not because you're Buddhist or Goth, it's because you're not Christian, and part of the Christian dogma is to go out and spread the Word.
There are a good many Christians out there who are able to spread their Word by actually living their lives according to the principles of their religion, instead of standing on a mountaintop and cramming it down the throats of the unwilling or uninterested. I wish there were more of the first type and less of the second.
I'd be more likely to convert based on seeing people who follow their religion out of love, than those who say you should follow a religion out of fear of what will happen to you if you don't.

You dress gothic, and folks perceive you as gothic. You certainly are inviting them to discriminate that.
You have your religion, Christianity has a dogma, to "seek and save". I'm sure you're attire is screaming to the world "Save me, save me!!"
You can either change the world (ha ha) or change yourself. Since you probably enjoy the attention you're getting, -then you probably should stop complaining.
BTW...It's pretty much public knowledge that when a Christian shows up (anywhere) the heathens start to howl. I can't say whether any Christian is badgering you too much, but telling a Christian that you're a "dancing horsefly" or whatever, - just leads them to point out the salvation comes from Jesus, and to allow you to reflect upon the fact that dancing will never save you.

I'm glad you aren't judging all Christians by what a few are doing, TY........that said, I think they are wrong, they have no right to judge you or anyone else, none of us do, The Gothic Culture does NOT mean you worship Satan, it's like my generation being Hippies and Flower Children, you're only expressing yourself, don't let narrow mined people get under your skin and go right on being who you are. You sound like a very nice and intelligent young man and I wish you all the best.

In what way have you been discriminated? Umm, did you not get a job, or a house, or were you forced to sit in the back of the bus? Just because someone tries to share what they consider "good news" doesn't mean they are discriminating against you. Discriminating basically means to exclude. If Christians were discriminating, they wouldn't be sharing or trying to "convert" you. They would be leaving you out and keeping their beliefs to themselves. But instead they are showing that they really care for you by sharing their faith. I assume that if you find it offensive that they share with you, you will respectfully ask them to stop, and at that point they should.
