My friend is dating a guy who is very controlling. He does not think a woman should leave the house after 10 pm but it's ok for him to leave her home all day to go drinking with his friends. He never has money but has a good job. I think he is going to strip clubs and up to no good. I think that is why he freaks out on her when she wants to go out with her friends. He yells and screams call her a name or 2. She threatens to leave but I know she won't. Has anyone encountered a situation like this? What are some signs?

The signs are already there. Yes.
It is controll and if there is any resistance to this control, then it will become abusive.
Your friend is probably a good person and she deserves good for herself.
Relationships are a union, a partnership, a shared life - she has none of the above.
My opinion, We were not put on this earth to be controlled in any way by anyone and we certainly don't deserve to be lied to or to be told that what we feel is wrong to suit someone elses shortcomings.
The problem is already started - he controls.
The only thing that can be done is to show her the difference between a good relationship and hers.....and help her to see what is not healthy for her and her future.

Passive aggressive behavior
Constant dependence on alcohol
Slapping or hitting her
Temper tantrums like tipping over a chair or knocking over a stack of paper.
Cussing for normal conversations.

Call the police and get help, don't let it get out of hand. The police take domestic violence more seriously now. There are plenty of support groups for battered women, DON'T BE MISERABLE.

Tell your friend to 'RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THIS GUY'. He is trouble. He wants his cake and eat it to. Your friend will have nothing but misery with a man like this. God forbid she gets pregnant with him. A rule of thumb is you can tell how a man will treat you by the way he treats his mother. Control is not love but obsession and that can become very dangerous. Ask me he almost killed me and tried many times, even after I left him. I finally got out but it cost me 19 years of my life and a lot of physical and emotional pain. No man is worth that. RUN!!!!!

yeah those are signs... my sister lived with an abusive man, i lived with her for a while too and it was pretty scarey, i stayed for the sake of the kids, she turned out to be just as abusive as him,but that's not always the case, hopefully one day she'll get the guts to leave, but for now, he probably makes her feel like she's a nobody, so she's stays.... she needs to learn to love herself more than him,, then she will leave, im glad she has a friend like you, please be patient with her, and don't call her stupid for not leaving,, she needs to do it in her own time, boost her self esteem.
