First, don't give up your religion for your BF. It will always be a bad trade. That said, I doubt, he will change his belief in God because of anything you say. Someday something may happen to make him see the light, but until then just agree to disagree or find someone with whom you agree.

He has probably accepted the currently popular faith of atheism or liberalism. After you have heard a bunch of lies long enough you can start to believe them. While evolution may be able to explain the DEVELOPMENT of the species, it cannot explain the ORIGIN of the species. Evolution is a religion just like any other. It asks you take on faith that the beliefs which they cannot prove (and they admit that they will never be able to prove how life actually started on Earth or the exact origin of homosapiens). Although they do say, we THINK this is how it works (but have no evidence to prove it) and based on we think it works this is what happened. Of course, whenever you start from a conclusion your answer is still a conclusion. (See sophistry)

Ask your BF, did man start from 2 people? If so, why can't we call them Adam and Eve? Does he know them personally? If we didn't start from 2 people, was it a group 5, 10, 50? Where did they come from? If he says a spaceship, you will have to wait until he is at least 10 years old to talk to him about this. (See the Fermi Paradox)

BTW if you have city processed tap water (as opposed to a private well or untreated water), tap water is as good and usually better than any brand of bottled water. (Again, lie enough and people will believe.) Most bottled water is made from city tap water, often without any treatment at all. (Distilled water can be purer, if done properly, but I doubt that is what he recommends.)

Please read what I have to say: If the world began with Adam and Eve, then the world is just under 6000 years old. Have you ever seen the Big Dipper? Most of the stars in the big dipper are way over 6000 light years away. A light year is the the distance light can travel in one years time. How can the big dipper be there if the world is only 6000 years old? Also, there are two creation stories in the Bible. If you read your Bible carefully, the world is a valley with water flowing in one side and out the other...have you ever seen the picture of earth from the moon or a globe? The world is certainly not a valley. What about dinosaurs, millions of years ago? If the earth is only 6000 years old, according to the literal Bible time line, then there could have not been dinosaurs...so what are all those bones? I have been round and round with people from Mormons to Jehovah Witnesses, and I am not trying to hurt any one's faith. The purpose of the story of Geneses is that God created the universe, the world, etc. No one who wrote those stories knows how God did it. We do know that those stories were handed down as oral tradition, not as actual fact. Some religious backgrounds demand unquestioning literal belief in the literal translation of the Bible. Other religions acknowledge that much of the early Old Testament is more symbolic, even mythological. It would surprise you to know that the Galileo was branded a heretic because he said that the moon revolves around the earth and the earth revolves around the sun. He said their were craters on the moon, he said Saturn had rings, and he said other planets have moons. For this he was punished. WHY? Because the church at the time said that the earth was the center of the universe, the earth was the only planet that could have moons, and sun revolved around the earth. Shocking isn't it? We know for sure that what people thought were facts 400 years ago are not true. Surely you do not believe that the earth is the center of the universe, do you? Well, if you examine the world, you will find that, according to carbon dating which is incredibly reliable, people from Asia crossed an ice bridge into the Americas around 20,000 years ago. If Adam and Eve is true, how could there be people (Native American Indians) in the Americas to greet Columbus and the explorers? How would you account for three different races of humans (Caucasians-white, *******-African/black, Mongoloid-Asia)??? If Adam and Eve were white, as you no doubt believe, how do you account for Asians and Black people? You see, your boyfriend isn't sacrilegious, he's is thinking. It doesn't make you farther from God not to believe Adam and Eve as factual. In fact, it isn't a requirement in most Christian religions, including Catholic.

OMG.. you have disagreements .. the world is now coming to an end...

Good for you.. You know the best way to explore and understand each other is through ideas. However, remember that arguments are statements. They should not be based on emotions. When you can learn to control your emotions in a conversation, I bet your boyfriend will have great respect for your ideas.

I also want to point out after you posted your comment that .. stay strong with what you believe. Having self respect is more important than respect of your boyfriend. If he isn't able to open up and hear your ideas as well and you both come to an agreed compromise ...then maybe it's time to move on. When I state compromise, not compromise ideals and morals and what you feel in your heart is right for his sake, but an agreement between you of what you both feel is right together.

Have a great day! :)

I think you need to carefully consider this relationship.

You don't need to be in total agreement in what you believe, but you do need to be able to accept the differences in your beliefs.

Adam and Eve may have been real people or may have been symbolic of man's descent into sin. In either case, whether a true story or an allegory the story tells us that we have been led into sin by the forces of evil.

I accept it as a true story but am open-minded about other possibilities. I believe sin is a problem. I also believe that God created us, but the exact methodology is not necessarily literally as described in the Bible.

If you value this relationship you should try to determine what are the things that you both believe in. You should then try to find out how the things you disagree on will impact your relationship.

You can't make him believe anything he is unwilling to believe. Nor should he expect to make you believe anything you are unwilling to believe.

What you need to find out is how important are these disagreements.

Adam and Eve story is most likely an allegory. I'm not slamming religion here, I'm just saying, it's been pretty well proven that we come from the West coast of Africa and in the wrong place and time to account for the biblical explanation of the origin of mankind. It's possible to bleive in God and not the Bible as the literal word. Maybe you will grow spiritually together.

Don't let your belief in Adam and Eve be the reason for your disagreement because both of you cannot prove if they existed or not. 1] There is no proof that Adam and Eve existed and 2] there is also no proof that they did not exist either.

You cannot just say that the Bible says so. If you want to present any undeniable truth, you must have 3 or more reliable research/historical documentations laid out.

Don't try to MAKE him believe in anything! You wouldn't want him going around trying to make you believe in things that you just didn't believe in, so it's not fair to do that to him. If you really care about one another, you'll learn to just accept it and avoid the topic. Love shouldn't be based on Adam and Eve, it should be based on how you treat each other, how you make one another feel, the amount of support you show one another, etc. So please don't worry about how you can change him, and just accept his beliefs as you would want him to accept yours.

If you believed that paper bags were better for groceries, but he believed plastic was better because it's stronger, would you want him to try and force you into using plastic? Or would you want him to just let you get paper when YOU go to the store and you let him get plastic when HE goes? That would be the proper way to compromise and let each have their own beliefs without offending or forcing the other.

If he believes in evolution... you better put that crazy Bible down and listen to the REAL truth. I believe in God in everyway, but I believe modern science over crazy Middle Easterners ANYDAY. Turn on the news... you believe them instead? Evolution is almost COMPLETELY proven. If we ARE different than monkeys, why do we share 98% of their DNA? If God DID make us from out of no where... He wasn't being very creative that time was he? Why are we not 98% ant, fish, or bird? You blind faith obscures reality. He is open minded, your mind is a slave built in a false fear of Hell. If your mind isn't closed, accept his beliefs. You do not have to believe it, but if you love him it's OK. If he liked the color red and you like blue would you whine about that too?

If you believe in Adam and Eve, then you also believe the parts of the bible that explains how Eve came from Adam's rib, and that because of Eve's manipulative acts, she has to be subservient and treat her man like a god.

So then you should think like your bf thinks and do what your boyfriends says.

So now, do you believe in Adam and Eve?
