She had surgery at 5 months old and now at 2 years old she will have 2 more surgerys-one on each hip. She will be in a cast for a month and then 4 months later, have the other hip done with another cast. She will be miserable. No baths or sandboxes. She won't be able to sit up all the way. She has to have a special car seat. She will hate this and I was wondering if anyone else had a child with this. Is there anything I can do to make this easier for her after the surgery when she goes home?

My sister was born with the same thing. I was 17 when she was born, so I remember it well. My father built her all kinds of different toys that she could play with on her back. Really, though, I was surprised how well she did. Children, and especialy babies, are very resilient. And it's like she didn't really know it was supposed to be any other way. she was just like any other baby, expect she couldn't move around. We just would make sure and keep her in the room with the family and keep stuff close by that she could look at or play with. she did REALLY start liking watching TV at this time, which surprised us because she was so young (about the same age), but I guess when there's nothing else to do:)
Anyway, I can totally understand how you feel. But just remember that she will have a different perspective on it. she will not really remember anything different and just learn to cope. Just have lots of company over, different faces and voices for her to see and talk to. That's what we did. She did fine. And your daughter will, too. I promise you. Just take it day by day.

unfortunatly i have no experience with what you are going through, however, when i was young i had many ear surgeries...nothing like what your daughter will go through...

i remember my aunt wrapped all these little presents...and whenever i was feeling especially uncomfortable or down or grumpy she would have me draw a number and i got to open the gift with that number on it...it kept my spirits up...i know she is two and the concept might be a bit too old, but finding ways to brighten her days like my aunt did for me will help her to keep smiling.

good luck and i hope everything goes well...its awful to see your child suffer in any way...hang in there...

Wow. I don't even have any kids, but it sounds like your daughter's quite a trooper. I wish her the best in her recovery.
