If you donate blood (like for the Red Cross), they do not do DNA testing on you. However, some of the testing they perform looks for viral DNA/RNA (such as HIV and West Nile).
If you have blood drawn for lab test, the lab will only run those tests requested by your Dr. It is against the law for them to perform any additional tests without the Dr's permission.

No, they don't do a DNA test, why would they do that? DNA testing is used to identify a specimen and compare it with another (parental testing) or to test for genetic diseases.
The only testing they do at the blood bank, is to make sure you don't have blood-borne diseases, such as Hepatitis, HIV, etc.
Hope this helps!

When you donate blood, they will check a pinprick of blood for iron content before you donate, then the blood is taken to the lab and tested for HIV and other blood borne diseases. They will also determine what blood type you have. DNA testing is a very specialised procedure and very expensive, used for paternity testing and police forensics amongst other things.

No. They do test for AIDS and other blood-borne diseases, but DNA tests are way to expensive to test every pint of blood that is donated.

No, they dont care. They do look to see what type of blood you have (A+ O- etc) and that is genetically determined. But, that is about as far as they go for DNA.

nope
they test for blood type, crossmatching, hepatitis B antigen screening, HIV screening, IgA screening etc
those things that predispose the recipient to diseases. they try to screen blood donors to avoid spreading diseases.
