We are catholic. However, there's a baptist church close to our house, and they're having vacation bible school this week.

Is there anything wrong with me allowing my children to attend a church of a different religion for the week? My spouse thinks so.

Help!

i don't see anything wrong with it. my daughter went 2 all kinds of churches as a child. young children need to be around different people and cultures, it helps them learn. the older ones know what they want. so where is the harm?

No, there is absolutely nothing wrong with allowing them to attend. The more they learn the better off they'll be. Besides, vacation bible school is a lot better occupation for children in the summer then most things a child could do.
Ask your husband to explain his problems with it, if they are legitimate, try to understand. but, also explain your feelings about it to him. Also see what the kids think [if they're old enough] remember, your raising your kids, you'll choose what church they will attend regularly.

Sometimes to understand your own beliefs better you have to be willing to learn how a different set of beliefs operate. In doing this you can remind yourself why you do believe a certain way and may actually gain insight and understanding another's world. This knowledge can benefit you due to the fact that one signifiant way to gain influence with another person is to make them feel understood. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new, even if you disagree. I would suspect the conflict comes from the fact that these are children we are talking about here and they are viewed as easily confused, manipulated, and impressionable; very vunerable and without good discernment. I would exercise caution but not proabition. Perhaps attend with the kids and later have a family discussion about the different angles that may arise. Talking with your children may bring you closer together, and closer to God, in the fashion that you prefer to worship him.

Well I don't really know the difference between Baptist and Catholic. I am Catholic too. I would just say that since you are both raising your children, you should agree on those kinds of things. If he has a problem with it, there must be a good reason. Talk to him about it, see if you can understand his problem with it. Maybe he just doesn't want to confuse them, I don't know.

The baptist church got started from the Catholic church. They get their teachings from the Catholic church. Sunday worship, Christmas (mass of Christ) & Easter to name a few. One is as wrong as the other.

I was nonreligious when I was a kid and I went to vacation Bible school with a friend at a Baptist church. It didn't change my faith or anything- it was just fun to hang out with other kids. I think that it is fine.

No. In fact it will help your child become aware of different religions. When I was little all my neighbors were of a different religion but that didn't stop me from going to church with them. My best friend growing up was Jewish and I loved going to church with her and learning about her faith. It's made me a very open minded person and not afraid of other religions.

No,there's nothing wrong in sending them to this church but it would be even better if you and your husband go with your children on the first day to check it out for peace of mind. You and your Husband must be in an agreement. Your children will be happy to make new friends and explore other denominations.
I'll be praying 4 you and yours. God bless.

The church is within every denomination throughout the entire world.

We who are in Christ Jesus have become a “new” creature (Gal.6:15, 2 Cor.5:17 below). We have BECOME the church of God (1 Cor.10:32, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.15:9, Gal.1:13 below), Jesus’ living body (Col.1:24 below).

No matter which denomination one attends, the living body of Christ is there.

Gal.6:15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature (2 Cor.5:17 below).

2 Cor.5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (Gal.6:15 above): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Cor.10:32Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Col.1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for His body's sake, which IS the church (1 Cor.10:32 above).

1 Cor.1:2Unto the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above) which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

1 Cor.15:9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above).

Gal.1:13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God (1 Cor.10:32 above), and wasted it:

Eph.2:16And that he might RECONCILE BOTH (Jews and Gentiles) unto God IN ONE BODY (the church of God - 1 Cor.10:32 above) by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Heaven forbid, that you should expose your children to a different point of view. God will never forgive you. Just joking, hey it's good for them. Take them to a Library and let them have a real field day reading the great philosophers. Open their minds a bit, if they choose to stay with their religion good for them.
