Once I was closing an aluminum window when my cat jumped to the window . I did not see him. I squeezed his neck a little bit. He is completely fine. But I still feel guilty that I accidentally hurted my cat. My cat is completely fine. It was accidental I will never hurt an animal like that.

Wow...a person with a true soul! Well, you can forget the guilt every time your cat licks you or purrs at you. It means that your kitty has forgiven you and it is time you forgive yourself. Chances are that your kitty doesn't even remember the incident. What I worry about with you is that it sounds like you have a tendency to "beat yourself up" about stuff. Accidents happen, it was just bad timing between you shutting that window and the cat jumping in it. If it'll help, sit with your cat and say "I'm sorry it happened and I choose not to let it get to me any more" and then give him a yummy cat treat. I once felt really guilty about a kitten almost getting hung in a hammock. I saved it seconds before it would've died. That was horrible. Give kitty a kiss for me!

I know how you feel. I have a cat and he was famous for getting in the doorway as people were leaving and entering. One day, I was leaving and didn't see him, and accidentally shut his tail in the door. No one was here to free him so he had to rip his tail off in order to free himself from the door. I felt so guilty for the longest time. I know he was in tremendous pain from that, and I was so mad at myself for it. Striker had a beautiful tail and it ruined it. He is fine. The vet had to remove half of his tail. I was worried that he had muscle damage from ripping it off. He was lucky that he dind't have to have it all removed. I know this may sound strange to some people but I talk with my cats. I had a talk with Striker, and I told him that I was so sorry for what I did to him and that it was an accident. He didn't stay mad at me, infact he saw me crying and immediately came up to me and rubbed on me, and purred. He was letting me know that he didn't have any hard feelings and that I shouldn't have any either. Just apologize to your cat, and I know he has already long since forgiven you, but you need closure to this situation and sometimes talking it out even if it's to yourself is theoraputic. Give it a try. What do you have to lose? Good luck.

I think animals understand when it's an accident. I've accidentally hurt my cat a few times and I apologize and pet her immediately afterwards. She seems to forgive me.

Oh, I understand how you feel. It hurts you when you hurt them and then you're not sure they understand you when you tell them it was an accident. I am sure your cat will forgive you. Just be extra nice to him. LOL.

Feed him some liverwurst and let him sleep in your bed, on your pillow. You'll both feel better.
