The exact location depends on where you are. There is no fixed latitude running the entire distance from east to west. The boundaries between the New England states and Canada, between and around the Great Lakes, between the western states and provences, etc all follow different geographic features in establishing the boundaries.

Try 49th parallel as a general guide -- but it isnt a straight line. It wanders around, especially when it comes to water, and there is a big dip around the Great Lakes.
