Black people have naturally dry hair. So, because of this, it is hard to maintain a flowing crop of hair if it very susceptible to tangling. Needless to mention that mine knots very easily (I think way more than the average black woman). I need something (maybe I can make a concoction in my own kitchen) that will help detangle my hair so as to give it more manageability. I've tried several name brand products, but to no avail. Please advise. Thank you!

I have long thick hair and I use the Pantene detangler and conditioner in the white bottle. I even spray it in between shampoos when I wrap my hair at night.

I apply just a little of Lusters Pink Oil Lotion. It states on the bottle can be use as a detangler.

Have you tried the children's product like Johnsons and Johnsons' detangler? I LOVE THAT STUFF. It keeps your hair soft too!

Perhaps the shampoo and conditioner you're using is too strong for your hair?

Pantene works great (in the brown bottle). Even the white bottle works great, but it contains more alcohol. But if you want your hair to be moisturized, but not to greasy, wash your hair with the original Pantene (white bottle) then use the brown bottle conditioner.

Try a conditioner with Shea Butter, it's very rich and doesn't rinse all out, so it leaves the hair a little flat.
