And before you actually adopt a chihuahua, make sure they are the right dog for you. Yes, they are cute and small, but they are a difficult breed. If you haven't done so already, speak to some people who have had their chihuahua for 5 or 6 years , not months. They can give you some great advice.

Go to a shelter or look up Florida Chihuahua Rescue on Google. I have one myself.

Go to either the local pound or check on line for a chihuahua rescue organization. I've seen rescue groups for every breed imaginable, even my "chosen breed" Beardies. Can't imagine you can't find a chihuahua group in your area. Good luck in your search!!!

Chihuahuas are not cheap. Expect to pay close to $1,000 in Florida.

Look at the pound first, a lot of people get chihuahuas not knowing what theyre getting into and the pups end up there, or worse...

please, before you buy one from a store or a backyard breeder, where they are normally sick and dying, consider going to a shelter! there are so many GREAT dogs there that need home and a loving environment...it might not be the perfect dog, the one you were looking for, but please consider it. there are wonderful dogs there that need to get out of those cages and into a loving family's arms.
otherwise, ask around and look in the flyers for people who are looking for homes for the pets.
