My cat likes to sit on my computer, it's a laptop, she has turned it off before, and pulled all sorts of microsoft programs up. In fact she just tried to get on it. I think she does it because she likes the heat it gives off. How can I get her to quit getting on it? I am not going to heart my cat in any way so don't even suggest it.

My cat used to do the same thing. Here is what I did...I went to wal-mart and bought a bed for her. Bought some cat nip and a toy. Laid the the bed down next to my desk where my computer is and sprinkled some of the cat nip in the bed. Now she loves the bed. She get in there all the time. The toy on the other hand was just to play with...It was one of those toys that looks like a mouse and you can put some cat nip in its pocket. She goes crazy for that thing.

As someone else suggested, use canned air within reasonable distance and do not tip it. This helped keep one of our cats off of our chests at night before sleep. It got to the point where all we would have to do is simply reach for the can and she would scatter! Now she won't even come on the bed..poor baby.

When my cat, who I love with all my heart does something I don't want her to I will move her saying no a few times, pet her and will give her a little treat and she listens very well when she hears no.Right now, she is laying on the floor by my feet. I also take the time every few minutes to pet her so she knows she is loved.

I have the same problem. Start putting her down, be a bit forceful with her if she refuses to stay down. I'm not talking about hurting her, I'm saying try telling her, " No." If she continues, try getting up and putting her further from the computer. If she continues, keep trying. Maybe go put her in a different room. Shutting the door is optional and completely up to you. Maybe you should try keeping it open, out of sight is out of mind. Good luck and hope it works.

Take your cat to a "psycho"analysis type doctor for counseling. Just kidding. If you have an extra room with a door, go in there and use your laptop. After you are done, shut the door when you leave the room.

I SO know where you are coming from. My cat loves to play with all the cords behind the computer desk. I put a shoelace between two books so its hanging off the desk. It amuses her for hours. Cats are so complex and yet so simple.

My cat does the same thin to mine. I have tried everything and it is the heat it puts off it is attracted to. I finally got me a shelf with just enough room fot it to fit in and while its not in use she cant get on it. but when i am using it, i put her in another room or outside. that is all that works for me. Hope this helps

Carry the keyboard duster around, my cats hate that stuff, it is mostly air so it does not really hurt them, but the sound makes then turn around and jump off of the computer.

If it is warmth that she is looking for... get her her own heating pad... turn it on low... If is isn't then she may be looking for more attention from you... I have a cat that everytime I played cards she would come and lay on them. Why I don't know...

I have had this problem with my cat Angel. I just put whatever she was getting on where she couldn't get to it or put something on it to where she wouldn't want to get on it. I kept getting her down and saying no each time she did get on it though.
