I know that our society is mainly Christian, but I really have to wonder why when someone says that they are spiritual or religious, people automatically assume they are Christian? I am personally not, but when I tell someone that, they suspect that I am not at all religious in any way, which is not the case at all. I mean the US was founded for sprirtual freedom, yet situations like this arise.

Oh, I know. I get that a lot. When I tell someone that I pray a lot, they assume I am Christian. It's just society, that's all. People will always assume you are Christian and heterosexual unless you tell them different. Blessed be.

Christian as you know is the term used by the world. They use this term to tag those who claim to know God. Most of the time however that is not the case. Christians today often times more wicked than the worldly people. Real Christians are a rare find.

Spiritual- is completely different all together. The unseen world. and very few people find their way there. And if they do, they don't talk about it to the worldly folks. That's just the way it is, folks.

I don't really understand it myself, I happen to be both. Sometimes my spiritual beliefs seem to turn off other Christians. I believe in a lot more things then the average Christian, such as, caring for the earth, allowing people to have any religious belief they choose. I, myself, believe in a lot of the practices of other faiths. But I don't believe that you have to belong to a religion to be spiritual, I just happen to find a church that feels open enough to let me keep my own opinions.

I once told my minister; I don't want to go to a heaven that only allows Christians, how boring would that be !!! Just keep up what your doing & believe, don't let anyone presume anything.

I agree....I am a spiritual person who happens to follow Christ's teachings, but I do understand what you are saying. It's the same with people saying that I'm a "religious" person when that is not true. I attend church when I want, I don't adhere to rituals, and I'm open minded to all religions...I feel that most religions have something to benefit us all. I have always thought I was spiritual, even before I chose to follow Christ. Good question.

That's a good point .I suppose that when people hear the word spiritual they mistakenly think you mean spirit filled Christian but the term could just as well mean someone that practices voodoo or some other pagan faith.

Read Gal 3. You tell me how Christians are NOT spiritual. :)

Christians are spiritual Jews through Christ.

Only Spiritual Jews will go to heaven. Period.

Personally, I've never equated the two terms. It's kind of like this: all apples may be fruit, but not all fruit is apples.
